So, Vignal, a known favourite of JG is not signed whereas Pellicori, an Italian he or Madge are unlikely to have scouted, has (please do not interpret this as me slating Pellicori - I at least unlike some on the board will give him a chance). Sitting here in Argentina (cue all the what constitutes a fan arguments) I really wonder whether JG and JM are still in charge of transfers. Whilst a few might point to the transfer of Faurlin and the purported fee there has been little or no mention of it here in Argentina. What is more Rodrigo Palacio (Boca) have recently just transferred to Genova for a purported 2 to 3.5 million euros. Palacio was the top scorer in the Premier divison here 2 years ago, played 8 times for Argentina and was linked to Arsenal last year prior to getting injured. If we have paid more for Faurlin than Boca got for Palacio I would cry because in doing so we would have passed up an opportunity to solve a glaring problem over the past couple of years - namely that of a goalscoring striker. Still after all that has happened over the past few years nothing now would surprise me.

I just sincerely hope we give JM and JG full control as if we don't we'll just repeat a msitake that seems to be happening all too frequently lately at QPR.

Anyway just my thoughts (for what they are worth) .... [puts helmet on]

'We spoke and he said he's willing to come here so we can have a look at him, although I don't need to look at him because I know he's a quality player.'

Seems to be not what JG is saying here. Sure he wasn't good enough during the trial and good on the club for not signing him but that really wasn't the point of the thread. :very_sad:

Gorman has openly admitted his admiration for Vignal.
That to me means he rates him.

I am not saying he's good enough, so don't get me wrong mate, but Gorman HAS definately said he likes him. I've read that in more than the one paper/website.

And there you have it above my post...Not much to be mis-interprated there.

I've only seen him a few times and always though he was decent. Can't imagine he's not an improvement on Borrowdale, but then again, I've not seen a great deal of him either.

What's that got to do with it?
He's assistant and supposed to have input.
Sure, the final decissions should lay with JM, but JG is here for a reason and I'm pretty sure It's not just to make tea.

Thanks for posting that - sometimes starting a thread can be an exercise in futility!

Is that some sort of joke??

                    If not, il explain...

Just because JG rates a player, and would probably sign him if he was manager, doesnt mean JM will feel the same way about the player.

Yes JG is here for a reason, to help Jim, and I have no doubt it was JG who got Vignal the trial as he said he spoke to him over the phone, so there is his input, JM ran the rule over him and didnt think he was up to it, so we move on.

                    Comprende?

talking of transfers; in the years 79/80 we signed gordon hill and andy king both well known internationals for approx 500.000 each. only cost about 50p to get in then.i know the wages werent exactly high but how did we manage to pay transfers then but cant now?

Maybe they are going for another left back?

I cannot believe that we will be going into the seaon with borrowdale as our only left back, or play connolly there our of position, it is crazy.

I wouldn't use Gordon Hill as an example of good transfer business either. He was injured or cack in a hooped shirt. A bit like many seem to view HH at the moment.
We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are...

If you read my post, you'll see that Ive already stated that JM has the final vote by writing 'Sure, the final decissions should lay with JM'
Does that make sense, or did you really have to put into your own words.

My initial answer was based on JG and NOT JM anyway as Pete questioned whether or not Goram rated Vignal...a point that was proven to be true.

You come accross very jumped up and arrogant mate. You seem to have to get all mouthy when someone questions your opinion, hence some of the reactions you get towards you. Not the 1st time you've posted in this manor, and I doubt It'll be the last.
Well at least you can put an argument together, unlike some.

Apolagies if I came accross jumpy, wasnt intended that way, its just the way I word things.
