  • Who's your most pivotal player...

...For us this season. Mine is Heider Helgasun, he got us goals when we did not really have any prolific goal scores as Dj was out. It might even be Clint Hill of recent.

Out of Faurlin, Helguson and Mackie for me. until he got injured, Faurlin was our best midfielder at the time and brought stability into our team. Helguson has also been unexpectedly fantastic! He's gotten us a lot of important goals this season when no one else was getting any! Mackie has brought passion and energy into the team, and gets a few important goals at times.
"When you went to the corner and saw our fans celebrating the way they were you just wanted to be part of it" - Shaun Derry after we beat the scum 1-0

Clint Hill for his "neversaydie" attitude during the last matches.

For me it's all about the run in so i feel they are all equally pivitol, but the players who i feel could be the most influential are:

Kenny who'll hopefully start regaining his quality after that RVP save.
                Hill to control the defence
Diakite for his drive, energy, power and taking games by the scruff of the neck at times
Taraabt who will hopefully take the final games by storm after finally getting his goal
Cisse when he returns because he is a goal machine and can get something out of nothing.

I think the fact so many have mentioned Hill is not only testament to him, but highlights one of our biggest failings this season. Our players last season dominated the league for a good reason, they are decent players. Hill was loaned out by NW effectively saying you're not good enough for the prem... clearly not the case. Gorkks was sold before the season, same theory no doubt, but on what basis. He would have been a rock this season i have no doubt and he will come up with Reading and i expect prove it next season. Also Connolly, i think was a good player short changed.

NW thought the grass was greener and got new players and it may still cost us, whereas, Norwich and Swansea had faith in their players and have reaped the rewards that consistency, solidity and understanding brings.

I just hope we stay up so next season this new team can show what they have got as they would be top half imo.

I like Taarabt's attitude of the past couple of months. No sulking, lost weight and really trying incl defensively too.

I guess this should be the minimum for every player, but knowing his character, age and the fact he isn't playing in his home country he just pips it for me.

Yeah he's really been putting shifts in recently. As you say it should be the bare minimum we as fans can expect, but that's not always the case.

I think a lot of the credit here must go th MH as there has been a noticible change in mentality from Adel since he arrived. I think the problem before was NW let him get away with too much and often take it easy in training because he was a talent. MH on the other hand has played with top class players all his life and has clearly explained to Adel if he wants to become what he has the potential to be, ir great, he should be working harder than everyone else, not less and resting on his laurels.

Just think of the names MH could reel off as former team mates at various clubs and explain how they trained etc.....

Without HH's goals we would be relegated already no doubt.

Derry and Hill are my top men, i love seeing players roll their sleeves up and give 100%. Last season they were absolute giants for us so im chuffed to see them playing their part this year
