  • No moaning?

We face an extremely hard match up at OT this Sunday. Yes we played some excellent football against Arsenal, and we gave Liverpool a very good game too. But if we lose to Manchester United can we please not moan and complain about how we are doomed, as we all know as soon as we win again we should be competing for Europe, so lets just cut that out!

Even if we do lose just keep your head up and think about the games that are realistically winnable (even though we considered wolves etc. winnable). Man Utd are an elite team, they will push for a goal, then keep the ball which is extremely hard to play against. So lets not go into this game big headed go in expecting to come up against a strong side and that anything we take from it is a bonus.

If there is a time and a place for optimism, it is defiantly now!:yush:

overall given our run-in i am pretty pleased with how we are faring so far. 6 points out of 3 games is good going particularly when two of those were the #### and liverpool. obviously united at old trafford is our next cup final.

sure you can say with our current predicament that it's actually results that matter, not intentions. at this stage i'd settle for us to play shockingly, if we ended up with 3 points. however, the flipside there is that it then means we would probably blow upcoming games as we'd be turned over a few times by the opposition.

so i guess for me the biggest test will be if we can keep the same approach mentally that we displayed in the arsenal game. if we can, then no matter what the result (provided we don't get a right hiding) then we still have cause for optimism with the remainder of our run-in.

        you r's!
        come on you r's!

We need to firstly be realistic and accept that Utd should, and probably will win on sunday.... They've only dropped a handful of points at home in about a year.

In any estimation of realistic points we can achieve before the season's out, no sane QPR fan will have anything but a loss at OT, so if that happens so be it, keep the GD restricted as much as possible and move on to the next game.

Finally, we need to see the bigger picture..... A loss could actually work out best in the long run. If Utd beat us they'll have an 8 point lead over City before they have to play Arsenal asay, and could well lose, and more likely to lose the bigger the gap as with it comes more pressure. The sooner they lose the title the better for us before our game on the final day. If they lose it with 1 or 2 games left to play, by the time we play them they'll have thrown toys out the pram, sulked, felt sorry for themselves and planned their holidays, meaning when we play them they really won't give a toss. I feel far more confident of 3 points against them if that happens, than against a focused and flying Utd this weekend.

If we win, or get a point obvioulsy that's great, but the title could go to the wire and mean the final game will be a nightmare and we'd need to have secured survival before then to have a hope imo.....

I am going expecting nothing and anything we get is a bonus. I just hope we get out of OT with our slight goal difference advantage in tact and what ever happens, I will be in a pub somewhere in Manchester, having fun on Sunday afternoon / night.

PS: Check out Valencia's goal v Blackburn on Monday, as the way to stop them is to cut their out ball to the wingers who hog the line, the cut in an **** you with a shot or a cross. We kept our disclipline and shape v Arsenal, but doing it v Man U, will be so much harder.

              Agreed.

Arsenal have been on fantastic form, but Man Utd in their current mood are a completely different animal. They are chasing down the title and are like a predator that can smell blood.

To get anything at OT would imo need to trump even the Arsenal performance, but hey who knows in this game we are expected to get nothing, and they are expected to, and need to win to retain their advantage in the title race.... so who will be playing with more presure... i'd say them.

If we can keep it at 0-0 for a while, the longer it goes on the more tense they'll become.

We just need to be very disciplined and keep shape and work our socks off, then break when we have the chance and try to win a few corners, FK's around the box etc. Any FK in a decent position and we have Taiwo and Adel who can both do damage. Plus any counter where we can either get behind Evra if caught upfield, or expose Evans and we have a sniff.

I'm not expecting us to win on sunday, but I hope for a good battle and that we keep the goal diff to a minimum. So if we lose 2-1, or 1-0 it will be a good result considering relegation places might come down to goal diff. There is a chance of a draw, and even smaller chance of winning due to us not only beating Arsenal, but breaking a 7 game winning sequence.

The realistic winnable games are Swansea, Stoke and WBA. Spurs form has dropped off recently with them winning only 2 in their last 8, so it wouldn't be a shock to take points off them.

The interesting dilemma is that if Man U win and go further clear of City, the last game of the season could be meaningless for City if the title has gone. But, and its a big but, if we cause a shock and beat Man U, City may gain extra impotus from this result and get a second wind to close down Utd, and therefore the last game of the season could become a title decider.

as long as we don't lose by more then 1 goal we will still be out of the relegation zone, providing blackburns result obviously!

And Wigan's result as they could also leapfrog us.

Not expecting a result (although I think it's not out of the question we can get one) but I will be disappointed if we don't at least show signs of momentum from Saturday. Just because it's against United doesn't mean a Sunderland level performance will be acceptable.
