  • Barton affected by criticism from Rangers fans

"To be perfectly honest there was a stage earlier this week where I didn't want to write these programme notes," he wrote in the club's match-day programme against Arsenal.

"I don't feel at one with all of the fans at the moment. I know it's only a small minority, but it does get you down as a player - because you want the supporters to be with you, through the good times and the bad times.

"It's vitally important that the people you work with - as well as the people you work for - appreciate you and believe in you.

"If the people you work for show you instantly that they don't like you or are quick to criticise you, it can be a very stifling environment, and I think that's happening to one or two of us this season.

"I see myself as a strong character. I've had to put up with lots of stuff in my life. But not having your own fans supporting you does affect you. I'm a professional and I care deeply about this football club. When the fans are giving you stick about a poor cross or a misplaced pass, it does seep in."

Mix them up with lots of good ones and nobody notices as much.

That is a beautifully made point.

I`am sure that`s how Paul furlong felt, but he battled, overcome and became in my minds eye part of a small set of players that rose above and became TRUE Rangers legends.

You took a great stride forward today Joey, keep it up.
"I could think of a number of what I think would be interesting (and not even "gotcha") questions. But they wont be asked"

        Fans forum ?

Perform and fans will cheer you Joey, Taarabt been through that too when he was giving the stick, so he knows better not to do it to anyone of his teammate

So try some humility then Joey.
If you have an average game, and we lose, don't tweet that everything is all right in the world.

As Captain, you should lead by example, take the game by the scruff of the neck. Shaun Derry shows more of those qualities this season, at his age !
As Captain, if you can't consistantly beat the 1st man from a corner, let someone else try. Today, ALL our corners & free kicks were better than 90% of yours. Well done Adel.
As Captain, try encouraging you team mates like Wilkins used to, or Derry last season. Don't put them down (adel) or abuse them (mackie)
OPTA stats don't lie, if you give the ball away that often and teams end up scoring straight after, you have to expect to be subbed, especially when the majority of 18,000 people around you can see it.
