I hold my hands up and say when we kept playing 1 man up front especially at home, i and many others were crying out for 4-4-2. That is no longer a viable formation if we are to have any chance of survival. Playing 4-4-2 we're getting torn a new @rsehole in midfield every game. Why? Because 4-4-2 suited us with Ali in midfield. He got his tackles in, could hold onto the ball or pick his pass. Now we dont have Faurlin and with that we have no-one at all who can get hold of the ball so every game our 2 man midfield is getting over run with 3 man midfields. We have to abandon the 2 man midfield and 2 wide midfielders or without any shadow of a doubt we will be doomed.
I'm having nightmares about what Arsenal and Man Ure are going to do to us and tonight i couldn't sleep just thinking these worst scenarios over and over again. Its 4am and i still cant sleep worrying about the next few games so here i am talking probable boolllooox but this is the only way i can see us having any chance to survive. And more importantly keep the goal difference down over the next 2 games.
Now im no master tactician or anything like that but every game i keep seeing our midfield get over run and unless we change it were farked. Adel is wasted wide left in the premiership he's just not affecting games. The most dangerous he's looked all season was in the Wolves game when he took the game by the scruff of the neck because he came inside and started running at their backline. Adel should be playing just behind a front 2 as an attacking midfielder. We should abandon the 2 wide midfielders and play 3 in the middle of midfield making us more compact and let our full backs supply the width as per below.
Were all having a pop at our defence at the moment but seriously its not the defences fault. The fault lies with the midfield who are leaving our defence too exposed all the time. We need to start gaining control of the midfield to give ourselves a fighting chance. Putting 3 in there instead of 2 and 2 wide players will make us more robust. With Adel in front of those 3 he should be able to supply the ammo for the front 2. Like i say im no tactician but i think we have a fighting chance with this. Now Cisse's out for 4 games it will be even harder but we have to start trying to keep clean sheets otherwise Man Ure and Arsenal will totally fark up our goal difference which is the one thing we have in our favour.
