  • The African Contingent stepped up tonight!

    ATAF

Make no mistake Taarabt pulled the strings in the second half

Diakate had the worst 30 mins I've seen all season followed by a superb 60 mins, shields the ball so well and when he drops a shoulder he can leave 2/3 men.....well done lad.

Tawio looked a different player tonight, composed, sharp and outstandIng assist.

Traore...that tackle what injured him from where I was sitting was the best I've seen all season and from 30 mins on looked dangerous down the left.

Cisse (yes I know he is French but still.....!) finishing is a bit special and had that 30 yarder gone in that would have been goal of the season for us.

Not thinking about Sunderland, just gonna enjoy the moment and wanted to toff my hat to our French African posse for their contribution in providing the most euphoric moment at a football match I can remember!

Totally agree. Taiwo cross was outstanding for equaliser.

People will say Derry (who did well don't get me wrong) and Mackie (another one who did well) drove team on....but for me was guys you list above. And especially when Barton went off

Diakite is so raw it's unreal - Webb was extremely lenient with him all night otherwise he might've been off again - but there's definitely a player in there somewhere.

Can't believe he's 23, it's like he's never been coached in his life.

What are you talking about? He made 2 fouls all game and neither was a yellow that I can recall.

That's how I saw it. He might have got one from another ref for the foul on Carroll (which Carroll played for) but it would have been harsh.

Jay Spearing and Charlie Adam were far far worse.

Diakite had a very nervous and frustrating (for him too by his reaction to one of his wayward passes early on) first 20 minutes, but I don't recall him misplacing a pass after that. He carried the ball very well, and seemed to have a little longer on the ball than he should, a trait we laud Faurlin for.

He is still raw, but he has improved game on game, I'm happy with his progress so far.

He was key to the result today.

I'm pretty sure he only started playing pro a couple years ago if I remember right.

Agreed. Glad we have 3 great left backs in Taiwo, Traore and Hill

Great shout W12 - my only slight debate is Adel ran the show from the minute Barton went off rather than for the whole half - and that's because the fear factor was gone and without Barton on his back he looked a different player. Not only was Taiwo's cross for the goal top draw, let's not forget he "won" the corner for Derry's goal with that free kick that was going in the top corner (of the upper loft) even without the deflection

Thought Diakite was fantastic after a shaky start Traore grew into the game and that tackle was something else! totally full blooded. Taiwo great cross for the goal and had put a similar one in earlier which no one could get to. Onouha looked a steadying influence at the back. Adel started demanding the ball with good movement with taiwo playing ball into people's feet rather than trying to his 40yd balls

Great post and i agree with everything.

                            Special shout to the LB's.

Traore always makes himself available for the ball and is fantastic going forward, but his effort and determination to win that ball at all costs at such a crucial time just before half time highlighted that he can also defend, has guts, the right spirit / attitude, and is prepared to get hurt for the cause if needed. Fair play to him.

Taiwo, i have defended in the past when he's been given a rough time by some, wrongly imo. He was shakey at first, but always needed time to settle. He has come good, is solid defensively, great going forward with fantastic delivery into the box as proved last night, but most importantly he starts attacks with very good accurate passes into the front men. He will only get beter also, and is a class act make no mistake. I just can;t wait for him to hit a rocket into the top corner in a crucial match to lift the roof....

I must have been watching a different game i thought Diakate was shocking no one seemed to have a clue what to do when they had the ball, lets not forget the first 75 mins we were terrible there second goal should have been cleared twice but 3pts is 3pts
