The argument both ways are 'ifs and buts' - we can't predict the future with certainty.

But you're better off being a pessimist and not being disappointed.

I prefer to be an optimist though. Thought yesterday was a competent run out against the equivalent of lower championship standard opposition.

We've had posters saying we should be signing Sagonowski, Lallana and Rasiak. They hardly had a sniff yesterday.

Thats a fair statement, and for the record i've never said we should sign the likes of Rasiak and co..

My argument is plain and simple; The strikers we have at our disposal now, and the same strikers the majority of us deemed not good enough last season, so why would we be satisfied with them now?

In fact we've actually lost the one striker who did score on a regular basis for us in Blackstock (who for the record I didnt rate in terms of all round play) and havent replaced him.

Now being that Pellicori is being touted as a squad player, who do we have now thats going to replicate Blackstocks minimum of AT THE VERY LEAST 10 goals a season?
Will change my user name to half full when QPR give me reason too...

I think Pellicori will be more than a squad player.

He could have scored with his first touch yesterday if Helguson had fed in on goal instead of lashing a swinger into the Loft. No other striker we have would have made the run.

He was always stretching for that header, so couldn't get the power or placement. Just a little too far in front of him.

We are not chasing another forward because we cant afford another one.

Simply, we are now paying for not buying quality before and instead filling the team with squad players on far too much money on far too long contracts.

So what do we do? We go out and buy another journeyman striker who isnt the answer on a long deal.(although i think he could do better than most of what we have).

Dont get me wrong, the squad is far superior to 3 years ago and im happy to see us as an established semi strong championship side. But i know this is a viscious circle with Pinky and Perky on the board as they expect more.

All i want is harmony and togetherness back at the club, and this will never happen while the circus is still in town.

              Roll on Saturday.

Course we need a striker. Agyemang, Vine and Helgusson were appalling. Helgusson looked to be carrying euphemistically "condition" and couldn't hit a cow's @rse with a banjo.

Plus - I wouldn't judge anything against THAT Southampton side. My God they were bad. Carry on like that and they're stone cold certs for relegation. Old players who can't run (Perry, Murty, Rasiak) and young players with no experience. Almost the perfect storm. Unless their new owner stumps up cash now and in January, they're a walking disaster.

Worst team I've seen down at the Bush in many a year. Even a pre-season game.

Plus points, Marshall looked 1st team quality, Borrowdale did ok - Taarabt on fire when he came on BUT, really, they were up against nothing.

All this big name rubbish, how many know what team Drogba came from before he joined Chelsea you can add so many to the that equation. Birmingham City got promoted, how many did their top scorer get? and how many people bank on the media and sky to convince themselves that a striker will score 25 goals. How do you really know he will?

By the way, Lita's agent is trying to get the best possible deal and playing with 4-5 clubs and wants at a few grand more than any other player at the club. If you want a disruptive player like this whose only thought is his pockets and being billy big balls, then you need shooting. I rate Lita, based on his goals but if a highly respected manager Coppell did not play him, you have to ask questions why?

After today looks like Tarrabt will score 15 this season.
You must be the only fan who doesnt want a striker. I wonder why that is?

Heard it all before we need a decent goal scorer its what we lacked last season and its whats required this season.

pete has now become laughable......he says pellicori (or whatever his name is) will only play about 10 out of 46 games yet is given a 3 year deal....only at QPR.

my take after reading pete's replies is that the men of power have told him no more coming in we don't need them so sell it to the fans the best way you can.

A bit like last season when we couldn't buy a goal and all of a sudden hit 3 away at blackpool i think...who was the first to say again we didn't need strikers

You can hardly say that mate.

Pellicori is hardly an unfit person. He seems to have a good touch on him and is quite a big lad, so I doubt he'll only be playing 10 or so games.

My arguement is Pete keeping stating that we don't need another striker as we have 6. Balanta and Vine are probably our best two footballing strikers, but It's far too early to say whether Angelo is a goal scorer and we all know that Vine is more of a creator.

Aggy is poor, and I've always stood by that, even when most got carried away in the hype of his 8 in 6 games run. Heider is not an awful footballer as Morris likes to believe...He just can't seem to score, but still is a good player. Pellicori looks decent, but I very much doubt he's anymore that a 10 goal per season man...I guess only time will tell.

Basically, I doubt any of our strikers are capable of 10 each if played in at least 30 games each. We should be off loading Aggy and Heider and replacing with someone who has a proven track record of scoring near the 20 goal mark on a regular basis. I'm affraid Pete's arguement for Heider in invalid too as he's done it once or twice in his whole career which doesn't smack of consistancy for me.

We should take a punt and spend big. Kamara is the one I'd like to see as the £4m they want is penny's considering the prize at the end. £10m total spend this season wouldn't be bad in fairness and we don't need to spend near that. It doesn't take a mathematical genius to work out that £30m plus future parachute payments if relegated back to the CCC and future TV rights and various endorsment if we manage to stay up would outweigh any reasonable amount of money needed to get out of this league.

Edit: Sorry Quaz...I mis-read the start of your post and thought you were saying Pellicori wouldn't play more than 10.
