Why do we play with two useless strikers, we would be better off having 5 in midfield and one useless farker up front.......at least we would have five class players who could hurt other teams............use the striker as a decoy and not pass the the to**er.They seek him here.................

It is not so much a big name we need but a preditory striker, like any possition on the pitch you need some one that fits. I dont care if its bert from basingstoke, just as long as he fits the bill and can put in the goals! We have all the flair, we have crossers of the ball, we have hold up men..we dont have a preditor and we will see more chances missed than any other team at a guess!!
We have so many options and yes we will score goals but the difference between being up there or being around about will be a clinical finnisher, that may not need be a proven high price champoinship proven finnisher given the calliber of whats around him but some one that can put the ball in the net and not row z!!
Pete do you think the new boy can fit that role?

Goals against lower league opposition in friendlies don't really mean much though do they? Let's see how we are up against our peers then judge..
Selling Dex and not replacing him is utter madness IMO."Originally Posted by qblockpete

Granted Pete we have scored alot of goals pre-season, but you have to take the opposition into consideration. I have only seen the Aldershot & Southampton friendlies and the opposition in those games, were both poor at best.
A decent striker (fox in the box) turns defeats into draws, draws into wins and ultimately mid table into playoffs and playsoffs into automatic promotion.
Agyemang is not a 90mins player - he is an impact player from the bench (last 20mins when the opposition begin to tire). Helguson to me looks two stone over weight and thought he was dreadful yesterday. Vine will come good, he is a quality player, looks a yard off the pace at the mo, and needs game time. But he is not going to get you 15 goals in a season. Pellicori will need time to adjust and will be a bit part player this season, imo.
I seriously do think we are a decent striker away from being a very good team in this division.
The midlfield is awesome, all playing styles and formations covered, defence looks strong ( i am with you pete on borrowdale, i think he has received some unbelievable stick already and alot of people have not even seen him play!! - anyone remember the amount of slating/rubbish Gorkss endured on here at the beginning of last season???....................give Borrowdale a chance)
I just hope and pray though, that JM & JG have seen past the number of goals we have scored this pre-season and realise we have a promotion chasing defence/midfield and a mid-table mediocrity strike force.

Agyemang was bleeding terrible yesterday. Helguson was just Helguson and Vine well wasn't impressed with him either.
Now Pellicori from what I saw yesterdya can read the game well and can header in general play! He got to every ball. He looks strong too. I like him already but I won't judge until I have seen him a lot to make my final judgement!

can´t remember seeing Lita play, but wonder how good he really is...wouldn´t he already been snapped up by a premiership club if he is as good as some on this board says he is...?
...still think we need another striker though...Last edited by NorwegianRanger; 02-08-2009, 09:48 AM.

Sorry Pete, but you're getting boring now and even I'm starting to think that you're being asked to say these things because anyone who knows even a small amount about football would know you can't rely on the midfield for goals. Yes, you need them to contribute, but a goal scoring front man is key. It's beginning to p**s me off that you keep on suggesting that our midfield is the main ingrediant of a successful team when even a fool can see you need quality throughout. We have nothing up front and desperately need someone to supply the end product.
Please stop talking nonsense mate as it's not funny anymore.Your mum would love me...

Just because we have scored some goals from midfiled doesnt mean we couldnt do with better strikers does it? belt and braces is always safest.
Agree about Lita though, not really interested, a happy squad is more important than signing a bertie big ****** and i dont want us to spend money for the sake of it
has Jay Simpson been loaned out by arsenal yet, he is more to my taste if we could get him for a year and we cant get beckford for reasonable money.
you see QBPete, sometimes it's just embarrassing
