Disagree. Thought we looked very good in all areas other than up front. I think we will score goals at home but I maintain its the tight away games that are won by the odd goal that a decent forward makes the difference. Someone capable of having 1 chance 1 goal. If we get that man then I think play-offs are a possibility. Without him they are not. Simple.

Don't forget Southampton were very very poor. Chris Perry is their centre half, must be 38 years old and he made Agyemang, Helgusson and Vine look very ordinary.

How many shots did they have between them. I can think of 1.

Yes, you need them to contribute, but a goal scoring front man is key. It's beginning to p**s me off that you keep on suggesting that our midfield is the main ingrediant of a successful team when even a fool can see you need quality throughout. We have nothing up front and desperately need someone to supply the end product.

Please stop talking nonsense mate as it's not funny anymore.

Well said mate, and he wonders why some people give him grief about being a mouthpiece for certain individuals at the club!

Another 3 goals yes but how many were scored by forwards......

relaying on midfielders to score our goals is not going to get us in the play off's.

ben mate, you like many others are basing views on last season.

As for rating our strikers, many are underestimating the impact of Taarbt and Balanta. I love the way some dismiss these players, but in many cases you've not see them play pre-season.

This is the way, I see it.

Vine, is a playmaking and gets other players into play. He's said that he is more a creator, but you can imagine him contributing 10 goals this season. I'm still not sure he is totally fit and recovered entirely from a very serious injury where his leg was broken in 3 places.

Ageymang Plays well with Vine, but yet to reach the peak which saw him score 8 goals in 6 games under De Canio. I'm not sure he is the answer to partner Vine.

Helguson You only have to look at his previous goalscoring record to know he scores goals and he will this season. Us fans always have a scapegota and only remember the last game and like Borrowdale he has been the scapegoat for fans. Given a run in the team can easily see him scoring 10 goals and more nearer 15. All strikers go through bad patches, but with a bit more confidence he will come good.

Tarrabt Many forget his age and don't take into account how many games he played in a forward role for Spurs reserves. He is very young and can easily play in a forward role. Can see him gettng his target of 15 goals with the attacking midfield that we have to help him out.

Pellicori I'm not getting carreied away with him or indeed saying that he is a replacement for Blackstock, he is not. He will play some part this season, but would not be anyone's first choice striker on paper. He will score goals but may need time to adapt to the english game. I don't think he will play more than 10 games for the first team and think the 4 above will play more games.

Balanta Will simply surprise everyone this season and I've not been his greatest fan in the past. he has baulked up and will threaten many defences in the championship

We need to keep the team fit a and have luck with injuries, but with our attacking midfield and strikers we have, we will score goals.

Pete - you do talk a lot of sense, but on this occasion i cant agree with you.

Against wycombe we looked effective until we reached the final 3rd of the pitch and we lacked any options with the 2 up front. We scored two early goals against wycombe, and from then on I thought we looked very weak going forward. Lots of nice football and passing but no penetration up front.

Look at yesterday, Gorrks (defender), Balanta (winger) and Taraabt (attacking midfielder) all scored but we can't rely on a defender, a winger, and a wonder goal for every gamein the CC.

Where are the bread and butter goals? No where to be seen, the same problem we had last year, we must have a goal scorer in the team..... its as simple as that until we address this problem we will not be a complete team.

For me the club need to spend an extra £3-4m on a goal scorer and that should give them a high probability of prem football and revenue.....

They have spent a lot on this club and secured great sponsors.... the goal scorer is the final investment required to complete a jig saw...... i cant see why they have gone as far as they have without completing the final missing part......

Pete, if you are right that we will score plenty of goals from midfield and defence, well think how much stronger we will be with a high scoring striker.............

You say Lita was asking for too much wages that would have upset other players.... well no transfer involved so they should have paid him our standard week wage plus a signing on fee to cover the extra money he wanted..... of course if the club did not think he was right for the club then I have no issue with them not signing him, but if it was due to a couple K a week then that does seem a bit poor given no transfer fee involved.

I think Pellicori will play a larger role than that.

Pete sorry but you are talking like a financial controller of qpr holdings rather than an ardent QPR supporter.

yes Ballanta will provide input, yes tarrabt is a decent loan signing but we have sold our best striker, proven at this level and replaced him with a non entity from the lower italian leagues with no real record of success at anything like championship level and 28 to boot so probably not much improvement to come. perhaps he will do ok i would love him to.

But in straightforward analytical terms we have weakened our attacking options by loosing blackstock (and di carmine)

we can hope that the shortfall will be covered by the midfielders but its still a nonsense not to try and get another striker and to say we don't need one is madness. Just because you have seen some pre season games you think you know better than the 90% odd who think we do.

Do you really really think we would be better off without another striker?

scottboy07, I know I am in the minority about a striker requirement.

Just to add Tarrabt scored his goals when he partnered Helgusson UP front, not when he was playing midfield, he moved back to accomodate Pellicori.

Still maintain Tarrabt wants to play striker a\nd thats why he moved to QPR and to score goals.

peteg, All teams want another striker.

Trouble is we have 6 already. Okay, if we said lets sell Helguson or Ageymang then maybe argument is valid.

How many clubs in the championship have bought strikers this summer, more importantly how many would walk straight into our first 11?

Faurlin and Buzsacky (lets hope he stays fit) can turn games and they play midfield.

The opinion on our strikers is being based on last season and makes no allowance for change of tactics or progression with certain players. Peteg, I understand where you are coming from, as those that I spoke to yesterday before the game agreed with your opinion.

                            fair point.

I am happy to see him up front, but you know when he plays up front he drop off the front line and plays the same kind of role as vine does. We need a goal scorer to lead the line and feed off vine/Tarrabt.

Interesting what you said in your previous post:

                            Vine - not fully fit
Dave - not at his peak
HH - confidence player - will come good
Pepsi cola - not ready time to adjust
                            Balanta - midfield player
Tarrabt - plays front - AND I AGREE WITH THAT

But based on your comments non of our strikers are ready yet, except tarrbat, but we need two and balanta by your own comment stats he is a midfielder - so sure you must see that we need another striker!

I think we have 46 games to go and this won't be the team/squad that finishes the season and striker options will come along.

For us to be at least trying to get Lita ( I know we did), does show if the right opportunity came along, we would go for someone. Cox was also offered a deal at Rangers, but its hard to compete with wages on clubs like WBA and Boro
