hope you guys don't mind me pasting this here!
A few years ago, users of the old Offi board (and others) had a collection to enable one of our supporters from New Zealand to fly over and visit.
For various reasons, the supporter has been unable to visit.
I collected the monies that supporters kindly donated, a sum of £805.00.
A while back one of our supporters was attacked (non football related) and left on a life support machine.
The good news is that he is making a recovery.
£200 of the interest earned was donated to the supporter to help him during that terrible period of his life.
However, I still hold the original amount, plus interest earned from then, to date.
I have rounded the amount up to £1000.00
Many of those who originally contributed, feel that now the time has come to use these funds.
Talking with various people that contributed, the consensus seems to be one of donating the funds between different Charities.
Recently one of our supporters from Northern Ireland, (Keith Cassidy) passed away at a young age.
Stephen Cross ran a Half Marathon on Friday 24th July to raise funds in Keith's memory.
I understand that the monies that Stephen raised will go to 'QPR Youth Centre of Excellence.'
So in memory of Keith Cassidy, £250.00 will be donated to the 'QPR Youth Centre of Excellence.'
£250.00 will be donated to the Great Ormand Street Hospital for Sick Children.
£250.00 will be donated to Cancer Research.
£250.00 will be donated to the Heart Foundation.
I would like to add that it is not my money that is being donated I was just one contributor of many, and while I realise that making decisions about using other peoples money can be an emotive subject, I hope that every contributor is satisfied with the use of these funds.
If however anyone is not, please see me at the first game of the season (pre-match pub) and I will return anyone's original contribution.
Many, many thanks to everyone that kindly contributed.
Steve Zico.
P.S.
Can anyone 'Copy and Paste' this to the other message boards please, so that as many contributors as possible can see it.
Thank you.
