I remember the old Omni Turf when I first started supporting QPR in the early 80's, it was state of the art at the time, still not very good but it gave us a huge home field advantage! Obviously things have progressed over the years with new technology! My local club, Toronto FC had the new "state of the art" Field Turf for its first few seasons and it looked nice and played pretty true compared to the old versions of Astro Turf! The main problem was when it rained, the ball would skid so bad, the players had no idea what the ball was going to do, some of the matches in heavy downpours were farcical! Eventually a "state of the art" grass field was installed and it's much better, even during heavy rain, much to the delight of TFC and our National Team which use BMO Field as their home stadium!
