  • I think

If Joey was more positive and got on with people a bit better we would see a change in the whole teams play.
I don't know but it's as if players don't want to play for him as captain, taking his criticisms. It definitely happens you see it all the time and not just in football.

    We need a new leader/captain.

Last season although Adel was the captain by name it was apparent that Derry was the leader. Could you imagine this season someone even suggesting that to Joey. And there lies the problem.

I also think that never before has one person had so much of a damaging effect on our club.
At all levels, pitch, players, team spirit, board level (Warnock saga) public and fans (twitter etc)

Had great hopes for Barton but really don't see what we get from him apart from grief and ill feeling.

Also have to say I am certainly not one of Taarabts biggest fans but I am fed up of watching big gob Barton mouthing off at him on the pitch. When he at least is giving it a go.
Running around a lot and covering 6 miles a game is pointless when you can't pass, take corners or free kicks and tackle like a pansy.

Joey Barton England player? - Championship would flatter him on the evidence I have seen this season.

Plus grey hair wouldn't suit him, anyway knowing Joey he'd hide it and dye it.

I am going off Barton fast.

Fair play to him he gives 100% each week but the big mouth pr1 ck needs bringing down a peg or 2.

Agree with everything said so far.

I've lost patience with him and the more I watch him the more I realise how much of a detrimental effect he is having on the team.

I have been saying for weeks that I am sure that a lot of pur problems are due to this man being at our club. Been waiting to be flamed a few times and suprised I haven't been.

I wouldn't mind if he was a great player, but he is average when he is having a good day.

That combined with him being a total plank, an aggressive thug, an idiot trying to look clever and someone who made it very clear he didn't really want to come here makes me think he is the worst choice of captain possible.

That clearly caused an issue with our most creative player, they still don't seem to get on, which can't be good for the team.

Every club Joey leaves becomes better very quickly.

I can see and accept/agree with people regards Barton's off the pitch effects (ie hes a w-anchor basically!) and the fact he is a pretty poor leader. HOWEVER, surely nobody on here can actually believe Derry would do a better job in CM than Barton?

Sentiment aside (as its not a popularity contest or "whos a nicer bloke to have a pint with"), Barton is a far superior player to Derry. I love Derry and he has been superb for us, but the last few games he has played for us he has looked so far out of his depth he looked as though he should have been wearing armbands.

I dont particularly like Barton as a person tbh, but he aint half made out to be a worse player than he is by alot of people on here. Yes, he is no Steven Gerrard, and he has (as has everybody this year) had a few stinkers, but he is a good player and been better for us than alot of our players all in all this season. If Derry had put Barton's performances in this year he would be touted as a candidate for next England skipper by some on here.

It seems that because of his reported wages some people seem to think he should be pulling up trees for us.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

Where does this ''fact'' come that Barton has bad influence on team spirit? It's only your speculation, isn't it?

I don't think people said it was a fact. People can join the dots up though.

Ok, but still speculation concerning the team spirit.

So shouting at players and giving them the ****** sign is encouraging and helps build team spirit does it? I'm sure they all love it, just what they need.
