  • Alessandro Pellicori - STATS

As NewarkR rightly pointed out that context is everything especially when stats are concerned. The stats below show Pellicori's record to date which have been gathered using a number of different websites. I never use Wikipedia as it very rarely is accurate but Wikipedia does state that Pellicori has played and scored for some lower league sides in Italy (11 goals in 56 appearances) but I haven't found anything that backs this up. The stats below show his record at the Championship equivalent (Serie B) and at a higher level (Serie A).

Last season the average goals per game in Serie B were 2.38 as opposed to 2.45 in the Championship. The 0.07 goals per game ratio difference basically means that for every 14th match there is one extra goal in the Championship compared with Serie B meaning over the course of the 552 matches in the Championship an extra 38 goals were scored. Taking this into account it shows that it is equally as hard to score in the Championship as it is in Serie B. For further proof of this there were more goals scored in Serie A last season that there was in the Premiership (same amount of teams in both leagues but 42 more goals scored in Serie A than the Premiership).

    Pellicori
    Career to date:
    Appearances: 105
    Goals Scored: 27
    Games per goal: 3.88

Last season he made 19 appearances for Grosseto who finished sixth in Serie B and played 17 times for Avellino his record for last season is below:

    Starts: 28
    Subs: 7
Matches in which he appeared for 75 minutes or more: 23
    Minutes Played: 2473
    Goals Scored: 6
    Assists: 3
    Minutes per goal: 412

The previous season for Avellino his record was:

    Starts: 34
    Subs: 4
Matches in which he appeared for 75 minutes or more: 29
    Minutes Played: 2982
    Goals Scored: 18
    Assists: 0
    Minutes per goal: 165

One other thing to note though in the number of yellow cards he receives. From the 73 appearances he has made over the past two seasons he has collected 15 yellow cards.

The 3.88 goals a game is actually the same as Blackstock's but that is due to him being in and out of the sides he has played for. His record the season before last shows that when actually picked and regularly played he scores goals at a very good rate.

in his 36 games he played last season 17 and 2 goals for Avellino and 19 and 4 goals for us grosseto so 6 goals in 36 is poor to say the least for a striker lets hope he's 3 times as good for us

Perhaps he played for sides that didn't create many chances.

Who knows, he might score every game he plays in if he gets chances like some of the sitters that Helgusson was missing last season.

True, I think it shows that he can be very successful.

That's not bad stats at all, like all the fans wish him all the best.

Last night our team was not as good as Wycombe but having quality players around could get many more goals.

Amazing how the focus is on last seasons poor stats, not the season'sbefore when excellent....

We don't know what the teasm last term were like and if they created anything.....Could be like Owen at newcastle.... no goals becasue of no chances. In about the last 5 Newcastle games he had 2 shots i think i read somewhere... not his fault. This year for Utd he will score loads with the service, as i hope this guy will with our midfield pulling the strings.

Played in the same division last season and the one before that. Did worse playing for a better side. Scored lots of goals for an ordinary team.
