  • Purpose of the Portugal trip was to work on tactics....

Well f**k me, I saw nothing different yesterday.

And yet again we play with one upfront!

    Doing my head in!
First game: Arsenal vs Queen's Park Rangers at Highbury, Saturday 17th November 1984.

Within the first 10 minutes it was clear that something seemed to have changed. Waste of time and money, that training camp.
Hope the players enjoyed the golf and Anton's birthday cake (did they do one for Cerny? Or isn't he popular enough/not in with the 'in' crowd?).

          Whatever.
Like all large groups there is an 'in' crowd and then the others who are on the periphery, either not able or not willing to become part of the 'in' crowd.

Hang on, they "worked hard" whilst holidaying on the Algarve.
At least 2 hours every morning.

What so because someone got a birthday cake and someone else may not have, there's an "in crowd"?

All seems extremely childish to me in all honesty.

the sun trip was well worth it,come on they topped up the tans, got the handicap down and clearly "bonded"....the shambles we saw yesterday proves to me, finally how down we are...it's cos 3 others are as bad, worse...we are clinging to non existent hope!

If the whole thing was to help team bonding, it's the small details that matter.
And yes, the fact that 2 players had their birthday on the same day, and one's is celebrated while the other one's isn't, is the sort of small detail that may well get in the way of that.
It also points to the dynamics and composition of the group in general.
Basic management science, which those who've done the degree will know.

Oh right, were you there watching the goings on though, or are you basing your assumptions on a picture of a birthday cake?

I think the idea of playing with one striker up front gets you the sack quicker and you walk away with your contract paid up for a few months work. Brilliant ploy that one.

I don't think we should blame the players because they were playing with 10 men and put up a good fight, MH should take the blame but now we need to move on from here, forget looking back because that will just take you back from where we just come from 'The Championship'.

We need to focus on staying up and keeping all 11 players on the pitch.
