I just wonder, because we need to pack the midfield ATM.
Also isnīt formations interchangeable during matches really??
You can also change formation depending on which team you meet.

Derry - out of his depth in this league
Faurlin - injured
Tarbs - Badly managed IMHO. Yes he strops, but still our most creative player. Having captaincy stripped for someone like Joey and being dropped has not helped the team.

first things first, the passing of the ball in midfield is dreadful. We simply cannot pass.
Secondly, we badly lack a leader, and imo we should start Derry.
Finally, I think we have the wrong blend of players, they are just not clicking.

We have officially gone back to our 1996 name, Queens Park Strangers.

I cant see why Derry is getting so much stick. If you play him as a shield in front of our defence his passing isnīt that bad. Itīs when he is forced to play in a box to box role the problems start.

Ps. I know that Diakite is bought fill that role, but anyway; ATM Derry is a fighter we need in midfield.
IMO,he is wasted on the bench.
Barton should have been played on the right side of midfield. He was quite useful in that position earlier in the season.

Can't really give Derry stick when his limitations are there to see for all and sundry and always have been.

Even Warnock knew Derry couldn't cut it in a 4-4-2 when he signed him. Sitting in front of the defence at Championship level though and he was excellent. Since then we've been asking him to be something he's not for the most part.

Yep, it's not Derry's fault that he's not a Prem player. He was the rock (alongside the more technically gifted Faurlin) that allowed Adel to run the show in the Championship.

Adel hasn't been given the same freedom/isn't as effective in the Prem so we can't play 2 defensive mids.

I watched nearly every game and I end up saying the same thing (amongst other words..) is that our midfield is soooo easy to play against. We badly need Derry back in there even for just a couple of months I think it would be worth it as we lack steel and grit. I know Derry isn't the most skilled and he can't last a full 90mins but I would rather have him than Barton.

As someone mentioned I think Diakite was supposed to fill that void.

barton cant and wont go for any 50/50 tackles he knows that every ref wants to card him, he wants the ball which is a plus and plays the safe pass, he just does enough to merit a place. derry is to old i love his style of play but he is to slow for the pace of the PL . maybe we need to adopt a more direct style of play as our midfield constantly gets overun and outplayed, ive never seen anyone lose the ball as much as swp this must drive the players around him mad

At least When Cisse is back I suggest we adopt a more direct style of play,yes!!
