Having attended every home game since around the age of five, and since the age of twelve only missed a handful of away matches here and abroad, I feel that I can write this piece with some...

    Love it!

Bless him, must be having a bad day; probably spilt ketchup on his favourite shell suit or something. Either that or his giro bounced.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

I can fully understand where he is coming from, £45 notes is expensive for a visit to LR for an away fan, mind you that is cheap then some team have had to pay, Villa fans were charge £48, £52 and £55

What a pr!ck. The reason is somple. We have a small ground and rely heavily on needing to sell as many tickets as possible. If we give them bith tiers, and they decide not to make this trip, then we can sell the lower tier to our own fans.

I would imagine it's the same reason we don't take as many away tickets as we could. Most of the time this season we've gone for the lowest allocation available.

We drove, but Liverpool was about £50 from memory, and we only booked a couple of weeks in advance.

"Who do QPR think they are?" Who does he think he is? "I expect" he says. Well who gives a monkeys what he "expects"? We have a small ground and want to a) sell all the tickets and b) get as many of our own fans in. If he doesn't like it, no one is forcing him to come.

They just ain't gotta clue. They have to take into account that we have to stick extra men upstairs and downstairs and on exits and allsorts.

Beneath the anger he has some valid points. It is too expensive, end of. Tickets at our ground should really never be above £35. Maybe £40 for one of the big 5 teams.

The leg room is a joke. My dad came recently and said he couldn't wait for half time as his legs were cramping up and he just needed to stand up. He is only 6'2", not some freak of nature! He paid £50 for that game.

The standard of food and the length of time it takes to get served is poor. I know they can't do much about the facilities, but an extra person serving in each kiosk would help and cost a pittance. All these things add up to the match experience and therefore the price.

What we should do is say we are only allocating one tier, make it a decent price (£35 in this case) and then sell out our tier too (at a decent price).

I think we need to put ourselves in the shoes of away fans rather than getting defensive. The ground does have a great atmosphere but is cramped and uncomfortable and has poor facilities, and we aren't a top 5 team (YET!). A fair price should reflect this.

dont agree. its supply and demand. we have a v v small ground and we seem to be filling it. wd suggest the price is spot on.

Whats the difference between them paying the price for a tight squeeze in there seat, poor service to get a pie, huge queue and nearly pis*ing your self
Iv been doing the same in our ground for donkeys years so what have they got to moan about. For those that went to Everton this season would be using the phrase Pot And Kettle.

Sounds like he's gonna need a bigger swag bag to pay for his away trips.

The point about the allocation of 1,700 and the additional 1,300 is quite simple and is practised from what I understand this season by most if not all premiership clubs. Each club offers a 'minimum' allocation to the opposing side, with an option to increase this minimum allocation to a maximum % of the ground (ManUre excluded because of the size of OT). However, this second tranche of tickets, if required by the opposing side is on a 'sale and no return basis', that is to say, if Everton wanted the lower tier then they would have to stump up the cost of 1,300 tickets, which if they don't sell all of them then they are out of pocket. This practice has meant that on our travels we have been allocated 1,300 tickets at Norwich, Wolves and Stoke, which were sell outs for the travelling support, but the additional allocation, in the view of QPR would not have sold out, hence costing the club a reasonable sum of money each time. At Fulham the initial allocation was 1,900, but then extended, at Liverpool the same, but extended to 3,000 and on both occasions the additional allocation was sold. It is not sharp practice it is good business and basically it is Everton stating that they did not think that 3,000 of their supporters would make the trip to W12. I also believe that Everton themselves only open the lower Bullens Road stand to away supporters initially and only offer the top tier on demand. As far as prices go, well, it is supply and demand, there will always be a 'premium' for the additional costs of being a London club, and of course the lack of spaces means that QPR, even under the new owners will try and squeeze as much out of the support. Now when we went to Old Trafford a few years back the cost of my ticket was in excess of £40, for a League Cup game, I know that it was agreed between T&C and Manure at the time, but these are the types of prices that we will be paying when we go there in April, yet OT holds 76,000. So the excuse is that we are paying to see top quality football (Manure), but in reality what supporters are paying a premium for at OT is the interest payments that the Glaziers have saddled the club with as a result of taking out huge loans to fund their purchase. Now this is the type of thing this guy should be moaning about. And finally, with regards to legroom, well as somebody a tad under 6' 3", LR is not the most comfortable of venues, I would grant you, but it is old, it is tired and it needs replacing. But saying this I have been to a few more modern grounds on my travels this season, either new stadia altogether or new stands built in the last 10 years or so, the Anfield Road stand is awful for legroom and for viewing, Blackburn's new stands are cramped for legroom, Fulham's is made from MDF and then there is the Bullens Road stand at Goodison Park. For £31 this season I got to sit(?) new the back of a stand that was built near the turn of the last century, with wooden floors, wooden seats that I just could not lower myself into unless my knees were above my head level, with a low roof, which meant that once the ball left the turf you could not see where it went, and lots of supporting stanctions running along the length of the pitch meaning that your view was interrupted every five yards or so. Without doubt the worst away section I have ever been in, (yep worse than Palace's Arthur Waite stand). The comfort and viewing of the upper School End in comparison is worth the additional £9 without doubt. So which team is reality is ripping off the away support?
