FA will back Premier League star who admits to being gay
I don't think anyone is trying to be offensive deepcut, speaking for myself which is all i can do, i'm not. It's just blokes having a laugh.
Absolutely, but the fact that it's still the subject of some of the nastier phrases and names that have been used, suggests that the FA campaign is justified.

So you dont think there wont be any nasty phrases or names from terraces towards openly gay players? Would you have stewards patrolling the terraces clipping ears with rolled up Guardian newspapers?
If all the player has to worry about is "nasty phrases and name calling" then im sure the poor love will live through it
ffs dont lose any sleep over it

No, obviously not, don't be ridiculous. Give me some credit ffs
It is however, indicative of a culture in football that wouldn't be able to cope sensibly when a player eventually is brave enough to come out. Any player brave enough to make that step, will be big enough to deal with whatever abuse he receives, and more power to whoever that may be.
That does not mean we should just accept that and forget it. This campaign may be doomed to fail, but at least it should raise the subject and make people consider their position.
Sorry but this post is offensive. I have a lot of gay mates and they are not sexual deviants, as you so ignorantly put. It's people like you who make it really difficult for gay people to accept how they are and live a happy life. You should be ashamed of yourself.
Well said Stedders. Not really that difficult to accept that human beings are different in various ways. I come across far more "loose" behaviour in some parts of our "normal" society, than I ever would with the very many gay people I know.
Seems to me as though the vast majority of posters on here, just as football fans in general, appear to have no real problem with the matter at all. It's unfortunate that we all have somewhat different levels of sensitivity, leading to some being offended, often on behalf of others, when others are just having a bit of a laugh. I think it is quite easy to spot those who have the real problem with such issues, as they are always the ones showing themselves up with their distasteful choice of language. Still, whilst they are spouting their nonsense on here, I suppose the rest of the general public are enjoying a break from it.

Well spotted. Sort of kicks that claim into touch.
See, an example of inoffensive banter.
And another one.
