  • Should ex-players celebrate a goal?

Does it bother you if we sell a player who then comes back to Loftus Road with his new team and scores? You see it so often these days players refusing to celebrate infront of their former teams fans.Does it matter? Let's face it there is very little loyalty these days anyway.
Just saw Chopra scoring for Ipswich today v Cardiff and he didn't seem worried about stifling his celebration.
I mean if it is someone like Lee Cook who is a fan of the Rs then i can't see him celebrating because he might not want to,.. not that he thinks he shouldn't.

If they want to. Don't care either way. There's no general rule as it depends on history, how you they were treated, if the fans liked them or gave them sh1t3 etc.

Yeah agree, but you see these players coming out and saying i won't celebrate today if i score, and you think they hardly played for there former club, and ain't scored for about 3 seasons so very unlikely anyway.
When Les came back with Newcastle it still hurt like hell to see him put 2 past us, whether we loved him or not.

        It don't really bother me.

If a player chooses not to celebrate because he cares about the club he scores against then i respect that.

But they are just employees like we are for our companies. So i don't care if a former player celebrates a goal for his current employer.

Both Ferdinand and Gallen celebrated their goals at LR when they came back.

Surprised Gallen celebrated,..mind you he did miss a pen didn't he.
It seems to be a more modern phenomena.

I remember Clive Allan scoring for spuds against us at White Fart Lane.
His celebration in front of us was like a kick in the teeth.

That was because from the whistle, we were calling him a Wan*ker. Hated his celebration, but couldn't blame him to be honest. I would of done exactly the same. I still don't understand why we were giving him so much stick. He was one of my favs. I was 16 at that game by the way, and paid at the gate. How times change.

Noticed Bradley Orr celebrated hard for Yakubu's goal against us at the weekend. Thought it a bit unnecessary.

if players want to then it is upto them. If they have left the club to go to a bigger club, then it does seem a bit rude. but if the were push, fair play for coming back and going mental. what if it was a defender who barely scores you would think he would as he does not get many other times. i saw loyalty get brought up. which should be another thread altogether

I dont like the Badge kissing player who a month later is kissing another badge

But i think its nice if a popular ex player does not go over the top after scoring,

It might have had something to do with some disparaging comments he made about the club, a club that helped make his name, which angered a good many of us before the game.
Him scoring and then rubbing it in our faces, was not on, and almost caused a riot.
