Firstly, I am at a loss as to why people have real problems with the moderation, but it would be silly to think that some don't. We have never dictated what people can and cannot discuss on here as long as the topics are broadly within the bounds of decency. As far as I'm aware, threads are only ever moved if they are either not QPR related in which case they will almost always re-appear in the general section, or they are occasionally merged to avoid having multiple threads when one is more interesting and appropriate.
Differing and opposing opinions are more than welcome. Let's face it, there would be no point in this forum existing if they were not. I really don't care what other people's opinions are on most things, provided that they don't directly have an adverse effect on me. Debate is always interesting and often informative, whilst admittedly it can be a little frustrating at times.
Regarding your point about turning the thread into something it was not intended to be about, I was merely attempting to get across the point that certain things are simply not acceptable. You calling someone a "plum" for example may seem very minor to you. In fact, it is extremely minor to me and no doubt almost everybody else, but the point that some miss is that it still, particularly when part of an ongoing argument, can be something that ultimately leads to something far more unpleasant. Trust me Paul, it has happened although not very often fortunately. Anyway, my apologies if it came across as an attempt as a dig at you, it was certainly not intended to be taken that way.
I think all the mod team are acutely aware of the fact that at times in the past, over moderation has crept in. However, I for one will never apologise for defending anybody from unfair criticism or abuse as and when I see fit. Honestly, the amount of points dished out are so few and far between these days, it really is not worth a thread to discuss it. There is actually a sticky informing people of how to deal with what they view as unfair or incorrect moderation. The purpose of it is so that the vast majority of members who are never even close to falling foul of the system,(irrespective of it's faults), are not aggravated by having to read the same tired old complaints by the same people over and over again.
Finally, as I realise I'm going on a bit, I think it would be a good idea all round if both sides of this particular fence, would accept that mistakes have been made on both sides and that the best solution to ensure that less are made in future is for all concerned to forget about what may have gone on before now and try to see the other side of the coin and discuss any issues civilly, without any of us resorting to sly digs and insults. Because ultimately, that is no solution at all.
