Given some of the stuff that's been said on here recently, to get points for that is ridiculously weak.

It would seem you can say some really nasty, nasty things about someone, as long as you don't aim it specifically at them, but direct an insult not much worse than 'Oh you are a silly' at them, then you've crossed a line.

Doesn't make an awful lot of sense and results in some seriously offensive stuff visible for all to see.

That was ages ago Paul. Are you still feeling sore about that? Seems you do have bit a chip on your shoulder about this place dont you. Its no surprise that you've quoted something completely out of context. Ordinarily of course someone wouldn't get an infraction for calling someone a 'plum' or a 'dope' but in your case it was after a long build up of many confrontational and antagonistic posts, which just seems to be a general part of your posting style. Normally we're patient and let the majority of things pass as general banter etc but in your case it was the proverbial straw breaking the camel's back. You weren't banned though remember.

That being said technically those posts did break forum rules anyway: http://www.wearetherangersboys.com/f...ead.php?t=1902

      Dictionary definitions:
      Dope:
Informal: A person considered to be stupid or slow-witted; a stupid person eg "That dope has done it again!"

      Plum:
Informal: A person who does a stupid action or says somthing stupid.

Has it ever occured to you that its actually possible to put your points across just as well, if not better, without resorting to insults?

Remember part of the ethos of this site is to be a 'family-friendly' one - a QPR fan site where anyone should be free and welcome to post without fear of being bullied or intimidated in any way. A challenge for a football forum we know! But nonetheless thats what it is. Plenty of other sites out there if that doesnt suit you.

Finally, the mods and admin here do this voluntarily in their own spare time. We do it because we're QPR fans, passionate about our club and this site. It might help to remind yourself of that once in a while everytime you feel like digging us out for the umpteenth time. As an earlier poster said, football forums with little or no moderation very quickly descend into anarchy. And as someone else also said earlier, its only about 1% of the posters here that ever receive warnings/infractions.

            Paul,

Don't really have the time or the inclination to get into much of a debate or war of words over this. However, since you have bought it up, again, let me just give you my own personal take on it.

Giving someone points for those insults alone, would on the face of it, seem excessively harsh. I cannot disagree with you on that point. However, whoever gave them probably had their reasons for it and although I do not recall what they were or who gave the infraction, I would imagine it was a case of those incidents following on from a whole list of other digs and comments of an unpleasant nature prior to that. You are not exactly known for being an amiable, happy and fun loving type of poster after all.

Unfortunately, you keep making it impossible for things to improve with your constant harping on about it, criticism of the moderating team and persistently referring to my colleagues as "Nannies". Now, it would not take a genius to work out that this type of aggravating behaviour is not going to help with things in future, so I would strongly suggest that you just grow up and stop behaving in such a manner from now on.

We all know that football and following Rangers can be a bit of a rollercoaster, more than a little emotive and at times incredibly frustrating. It often leads to people saying things that on reflection they would accept that it would have been better had they not. That sort of thing happens, but as in everyday life, we need to get over it and move on.

I don't think I've ever given anyone an infraction point. I personally prefer to either send a PM if necessary or simply just request more appropriate behaviour on the thread itself. Maybe some would see that as being inconsistent, I don't know. What I do know is that none of us are always right and we all make errors of judgement etc. The general aim of this board though is to allow differing opinions, for people to explain their views and vent frustration. But in doing so, as far as I am aware, all we ever ask is that posters do that without using overly offensive language as young people are often viewing the site and not to be insulting to others. Surely it cannot be that difficult for adults to air differences of opinions without swearing, threats, insults and such like, can it?

Finally, just as a point of fact, there is no subject, (within the bounds of decency), that is not permitted to be discussed either in this or the general section. Hardly any posters ever get any points at all, it's usually the same people, over and over again. And the not so surprising bit is that it's usually for the same thing.

End of the matter for me, in public at least. If you really are that unhappy or wish to discuss with me further, then can we please deal with it via PM in order that others do not have to be subjected to the same statements and outcomes all over again.

I spose I might view things differently if I had ever had a case of being given infraction points when I felt I shouldnt have; but, IMO, the Mods on this board are pretty spot on. The above post from Brighton is a great example.

Ted, I just checked your history and actually your grand total is TWO since this site first began (however many years ago that was), but please dont let the facts get in the way of another classic Ted post

Forgive me, but this thread is about why people dont bother posting on here any more and I am highlighting why or is that not allowed ?

Yes it's allowed Paul. But I disagree with your reason. You brought up the subject of the "Nannies".

QPR has changed a lot from a few years ago when GP was the owner. GP himself was a major topic of debate with people viewing him as polar opposites.

We then had what we had hoped were wonderful and wealthy new owners who many thought would back up our hopes based upon their previous successes. Sadly, they proved to be almost exactly what we didn't want, other than the fact we didn't turn into a Portsmouth.

Due to this sites percieved and totally wrong perception of having anything at all to do with GP, criticism from other sites as well as some of the less bright and ill informed posters that we had/have, believing otherwise, led to a continuous stream of cross board arguments which as any adult would accept, is childish in the extreme.

On the field, the team was consistently under performing. But there was always the hope and expectation that one day, we would be back in the big time. Information about "just another small club", was never as widely reported throughout the nations and indeed the worlds media. Therefore a lot of what we discussed, laughed about and fretted over, was nothing other than rumour.

These days in the Prem, much more coverage is given to our club, as it is to any Premier League club. It's a massive industry across the globe. Almost any information, (other than the odd bit of sensitive inside stuff), is freely available to anybody looking for it. The match threads on this site for example, are nowhere near as busy as they used to be. But could that be down to those not going to games, instead of interacting on a forum whilst listening to some radio commentary, now actually watching the game via the numerous streams available on the internet.

In summary Paul, I think that those are just some of the reasons that the posting levels on here are somewhat lower than they once were. I may of course be wrong. But I'm damn sure I'm closer to the reason than your view that it's all the fault of the nasty mods, who set out to upset you at every opportunity. Let's face it, if there was any truth in that Paul, you would have long since disappeared.

Are you honestly suggesting that requesting people not use blatantly offensive dialogue towards people because of their colour, nationality, sexual preferences, disabilities etc., would be a reasonable cause for someone to stop posting on this forum? If there are people that no longer come on for those reasons, then I for one am glad they went missing.

                      Hope your life improves.

Have to say i agree with Paul on this.

Over moderation and ridiculous bans/infraction points are stopping many people coming back.

Purely asking the question here as I dont know myself; but is there actually alot of points dished out? Because I, myself, have had a few "debates" on here in which a few thngs have been said and fully expected a warning or something and the Mods have not acted upon it and so, in my own personal experiences, they are pretty good with it.

                              What specifically is being over-modded?

I'd say that modding needs to focus less on mild insults between posters and look at some of the really nasty stuff that gets posted, that is more of a threat to a 'family friendly board'.
