  • Its the Defence!

our current form is definately down to our ropey defence, no wonder we were trying to get alex and samba. Out of all our areas on the pitch this is woefully the worst.

Two big problems have happened recently as well

    1. Faurlins shielding was phenomenal and he really protected our dodgy back line before he got injured.

    2. Mark Hughes seems to like an attacking style of play (good thing ) but this has resulted in us playing a number of more offensive minded players and leaving our dodgy defence unprotected.

I really hope Diakte will be that holding player we are missing, hopefully over the next 2 weeks they can get it together

I was always brought up that if a team is failing then always look at your midfield.

Barton and SWP have been the worst of the bunch and constantly give the ball away. I would say we need an anchor man in midfield so I hope Diakite is up to the challenge.

I think our midfield bar Faurlin has been our biggest disappointment of the season.

I think the defence in the premiership as a whole is not that good. How many 0-0 draws do you get these days and how many high scoring matches.

too right. still remember the swnasea game last year - nothing past us in the middle. bossed the lot and 4-0 was lucky on them.
step up to the PL, and it's been nothing near how good we were. i wouldn't say it's because we're up against better players but i genuinely think we've regressed.

our team today wouldn't win a championship game.

                  i'll rephrase -
what i meant was by the way we play.

our players are and should be performing a lot better.

our games against MK surely showed us that we are not playing well.

Our games against wolves - we played terribly. had we played that manner last season we wouldn't have gone up.

what i was trying to say was that we played better football last year than at the moment. yes we've played some good games this season, but not recently.

It's deffinately our defence and through the middle Ferdinhand/Hall/Gabbidon really dont look anywhere near good enough basic mistakes? ferdy on sat backs off from the Yak is allowed to get the ball down turn & shoot on the edge of the box, I though it was the idea to get tight and stop that happening, seems like we are all over the place at the back.

Any team's 1st line of defence is their forward line followed by their midfield to cover their defence and we dont do any of that ,our loss of Faurlin has proved to be drastic at both ends

true, and Hall was even worse. he was easily beaten for the flick on for that he is 6.4 but cannot jump or win many headers. ansd waht the hell was he doing for the 2nd, where was the challenge on Hoillett? He did a smilar thing against Johnson at Fulham which l;ed to Kenny coming for the ball and bringing down Johnson.

Ferdinand's form has suffered since the Terry incident and Gabbidon has always been a mistake waiting to happen.

Howeverm the midfield have not helped by offering so little protection and by contsantly losing possesion. Don't know if Diakite will offer anything better, but am really hoping that he does, otherwise QPR will continue conceding goals anmd losing matches. They just don't have the attack to score 3 and 4 goals per game.

He's been a massive loss from a defensive point of view, but he offered very little in the final 3rd so hardly a loss as an attacking sense. Luke Young has scored more for example.

He has contributed to the attack with a few assists this season.

I know it's a difficult transfer window that just passed and the club tried their best but when we didn't land Alex or Samba my worst fears came true! The defence hasn't been good enough all year, especially in the middle and now with Young's injury we're back to where we were, not Premiership quality!
