  • QPR Line Up Move in Bid to Secure Academy Status

The following article was written by Ian Cooper and appeared in this week’s Brent &Kilburn Times: ‘The Premier League’s new Elite Player Performance Plan promises to change the face of youth football in England, and nowhere more so than at QPR. The EPPP scheme, which was voted through by the Football League in October, is [...]

This is very important as the result will be that we should have players who come through the ranks.

Interesting how this thread which for me is about the single the most important thing after survival gets so few responses.

Gerry Francis, arguably the best player ever to play for Rangers was a junior here, so you are dead right Spankwir.

We must start producing our own players again, as they seem to have more concern for their clubs than these journeymen who would appear not to give a toss.

Just how many failures have the club paid for over the last few years.
I have supported Rangers for 55 seasons, since March 1969.

Yes, that is spot on. If we were doing better more people would be responding but I think our league position is occupying everyones thoughts.

Agree with above posts, this is absolutely vital for the long term future of the club. If we can generate our own home grown players it will bring its own rewards. All good forward thinking clubs do this. How much better it would be for us to see us doing well and winning trophies with several players brought through the ranks.

            Good news

I might be wrong, but didn't Middlesborough play 26 home grown young players last season.

I would almost certainly argue with you on that! :yush:

We have turned out some good talent in the past and It would be great to turn out some more Ray Jones, Dean Parrett and Rahem Sterlings that we know would have the clout to hold on too as players.

Obviously the tragic circumstances around losing Ray where different. RIP Ray.

Thinking about it maybe the club could make reference to Ray and Kiyan in our new academy?

Gerry Francis, not only captained this club during it most successful season but also captained England.

Also went out with one of my sisters a couple of times, but not something he boasts about.

Very true, football now is all about the here and now with fans. This is Qpr's future and very important. Any news when we move to the new site , and where abouts it is?

His sister lived a few doors up from me for years; attended many a party with him.

His son (Adam) is on the books at Rangers, about 16 I think he is, supposedly a cracking player.

If he's as good as his dad he'll be some player.
