  • Why is refeering better in the Championship over the Premier League?

I am sick to death off having my weekend ruined by soft refereeing decisions at this level which more often than not would have been let go in the Championship.

Look, I know if you apply the letter law Cisse should have been sent off so should Barton against Norwich etc but its a mans game being destroyed by weak men who officiate and also run the game.

Its not just us either its always teams off a similar ilk to us; ie not usually your big guns but when it does happen to one off them refs are hounded so much they are too frighten to given big decisions against clubs in the future. So I have come to the conclusion that the quality off refeering at the highest level in this country is poor overall and something needs to be done.

No doubt video replays need to be used, but also there needs to be review off the appeals process, the length off bans handed out etc....the whole system in this country needs a shake up.

First thing I would do is improve the quality of refeering by opening the PL to the top refeerees in the world game...we have the best league so why not the best refs and show some off these PL refs the door.

Why do players get an extra match ban if they lose an appeal there is absolutely no logic in it.

How do we define violent conduct, I mean seriously how often do you see a proper violent act committed on the field off play...a common sense approach needs to applied here.

If your going to fine a player/manager, fine him properly don't p.ussy foot around....if a man loses a weeks wages by being charged by the FA he is seriously going to start thinking about his discipline.

Maybe its a sour grapes because I have seen my team lose to the worst side I have seen us play this season at home. But I have also seen a soft sending off for Barton and cheated by Sturridge last week against the **** and I have had enough.

This week it us next week it could be Wolves the following Norwich....we are all in the same boat.

Its about time controversy was taken out of the game, to much is a stake. The powers that be need to remember its a mans game as well, tempers are lost, fans travel the length and breadth off the country to watch their teams and we prefer games to be determined by football not refeering decisions. As a result we as fans call soft decisions constantly as well this is a mind set I'd rather not be in...leave the agression and rough challenges alone its part off the game.

It leads me to the conclusion that reffing off games is far better at lower league level because games are allowed to flow and the PL needs to follow suit

    Rant Over!

Agree that refs are shocking in the prem but think they are just as bad in the lower levels. In the top flight everything is looked at so much more from every angle. The divisions below are much more of a slogfest and are more competitive without the silky skills. Refs are less likely to book or send off for tackles or bust ups as its expected more in those divisions. Just my take on it.

some very good points, only thing i can think of is in the premier league the players are usually bigger names than the ref's, so a ref sees the chance to get one over he will, if we had been 4 or 5 up today cisse would not have got red.

The game is ****ed mate, too much diving and too many red cards issued for petty offences. It's turning into a non contact sport rapidly personally I put some of the blame on sky sports 24 hour news. Every Sunday and Monday they are constantly discussing decisions, interviewing ex refs and pros and that then has an affect on the next game, the refs are becoming worried and are following the letter of the law to cover their own arses. The game is on the skids

Bang on TB, just watch the Sunday Supplement and listen to 4 journalists spend and hour and and half talk ******** about controversy. These ***** forget its not about them, refs, managers or players...its about the fans, its our money which makes the game as big as it is.

            Take todays decision your Clattenberg...

Take a step back back, think about...Pull both players over

"Right lads both off you can go in the book for that, Cisse in the heat off the moment you've reacted to the challange from Johnson, Johnson you were late. I'm going to not book / send off either off you instead I'm going to warn you and next time your in the book or off...calm down"

Then the ref should have pulled both captains across and told them to calm their teams down because next time he will not be so leanient.

These cunting refs are actually dining out on the limelight at present when they should be invisible and it needs to end.

Been thinking the same a slide tackle is almost nailed on for a card.Everygame your left scratching your head about refereeing decisons that are costing teams games. Ohara should of gone yesterday for two bookings but Clattenburg swerved the second as he was only booked minutes before.

Watching the Chelsea Man Utd game their was no way Howard Redd was going to let Utd lose.

A yellow card should only be issued if the physio comes on and a red card should only be shown if the player is stretcherd off

I like your idea of more video being used W12, maybe not for every decision in a match although certainly for goal line decisions! A board should properly review all red cards and hand down a decision on subsequent bans! Barton should have got no more matches, Cisse probably the 3, what an idiot!

That would just lead to more dramatics and play acting, games would take 3 hours to play with all the players being stretchered off!

My favourite idea is using international refs and why not we have a league what is watched all over the world. Mix it up a bit, refs nowadays consider themselves to be half a celebrity when they should be invisible , instead we have the same refs making the headlines week in week out for controversial decisions.

Absolutely agree I am sick and tired of watching the officials take centre stage in the games with some absolutely appalling decisions, whilst I loved seeing Chelsea throw away a 3-0 lead, Howard Webb was awful and just showed how ludicrous the pen given against us last week was.

It's getting to point where every penalty decision by the ref needs to reviewed live at the game...Howard Webb for the record should not be let anywhere near a man Utd game

Thing is they get judged, and the rule is, raise your hands to an opponents face and it's a red card.
