Adel Taarabt (first ever post)

hi everyone. as the title suggests this is my first post so be gentle with me.

as it seems mark hughes is a nailed on 442, i cant see how adel taarabt will hold down a regular starting position. The 2 attacking players will surely be cisse and zamora unless injury occurs

reading a few of your posts there seems to be a lot of people wanting to see tarbs start on the left in a 442. If you thought taiwo was bad against villa with swp covering him, imagine him only having tarbs for cover. could be taiwos last game this season

I love taarabt for what he done last year, but under sparkys 442. i can only see him being an impact player from the bench for the remainder of the season. in only a few months hes gone from golden wonder to sulky bench warmer (my prediction) bless him. what u guys think? end of the road?

yh cm is def a no no. and i dont see either wide spot being an option for him because he wont track back. unless hughes has a change of heart and plays a diamond in midfield with tarbs behind the front 2, i can only see him warming the cold winter benches up and down the country

I think your right I think Adel will only have a bit part to play for the rest of the season and its logical that Traore play on that left side which should provide some support to Taiwo which he looks like he may need at the minute.

Last season we built the team around Adel as he was the best player in the league by a distance. The simple fact is this season is he isn't even close to be being the best in the league so building a team round him would be a bit like starting a Formula one team with a fiat panda's engine.

Completely agree, but some will not see it that way as he absolutely HAS to start. I can't deny he's got the quality, but I don't see where he's going to be effective in a 4-4-2 formation.

As I said before, Buzz is better suited in the 4-4-2 than Adel. Not saying I think Buzz is the better player, but he gives us more balance in the middle.

I can see Adel coming on later in the game for Cisse, and playing just behind Zamora, but that's about it. I'd much prefer Traore on the left wing than Adel, and regardless of how some feel he's performed, I'd rather SWP on the right than Adel. He is not a winger. It's that simple.

If Ali was fit, I could see Adel working well in this formation...

Benny...i have to say that looks like a fairly impressive team to me...

Could swp replace Faurs in there as we have the extra back up in Diakate to cover for SWP loses of posession....?

yeah benny that team does look really strong, might have to have a go on fifa later with that team. although, must admit....... never would of thought a few months back that if we had swp.... hed only be on the bench

good opening post, does make you think what Sparky's plans are.

Our strongest CM is Barton/Faurlin, but with Ali out his place seems to be rotated with Derry or Buz, and I can't see Adel in that position due to his lack of defensive efforts which would leave Joey too exposed. And now Diakite is added Buz and Derry will probably not start.

So it leaves the wide midfield roles, which currently has a few of players to choose from. SWP, Mackie, Smith, Traore, so if Tarbs comes in, 3 of those will drop to the bench. It is a dilemma, but players fighting for a starting place is healthy for the club.

So yes, I can see Tarbs as a sub for now with Traore and SWP starting personally. Then coming on 2nd half for whichever side isn't working.

People forget the impact Taarabt has for the team and what he does on the field which is miles more then Buz or Mackie ever does

People are quick to forget what he offers and only realise again when he plays and then are begging he plays

Make me laugh, Buz instead of Taarabt, crazy
