  • Why do people keep blaming SWP's lack of form for playing on the LW

...down to playing on the LW

It doesn't affect his ability to pass, control or shoot on target....he just ain't very good

put taarabt down either wing he'd cause far more damage than swp could ever manage.

Absolutley spot on... I think I have said the same thing on almost every SWP thread. The problems with SWP are basic & Fundamental and for a supposed top professional he should have enough skill to play on either wing. An essential part of wing play is the ability to Play on either flank.
I think he has been incredibly poor of late.

Your argument would carry more weight if nothing happened in the brief occasions he plays on the right, but it does. Even last night he wouldve created a goal if Mackie could move his feet quicker and knock it in from 4 yards.

I agree you would think the touch and control shouldn't be affected but clearly they are, probably because he's uncomfortable on the left, can't beat his man the way he would on the right and it clearly plays on his mind and he over thinks / analyses situations or whatever.

If he was pants on both wings I'd agree, but he's not on the right. Hopefully Traore or Taraabt will be back on the left and allow him to have a start and run in his favoured position.

Also given he clearly lacks a bit of confidence perhaps it would help if certain fans didn't constantly #### him off....

I have seem most games this season and I haven't been aware of this amazing change when he switches wings, the same consistent errors occur on both wings.the point remains he should and obviously does have enough ability to work on both flanks.

so you would prefer Mackie ? because i sure wouldn't . Yeh swp has not been great lately but mainly because the center of that midfield has been shocking so they struggle to get the ball wide to him . He does lose the ball sometimes but i would like to see him on the right to judge him a bit more.

Totally agree W12 - as I have posted in many threads. He HAS played on the right on more than a couple of occassions and only ONCE looked OK.

He cannot pass, trap or control a ball at the moment and has been in decline for 5 years. The basics of control have nothing to do with what side of the pitch you are on. His overall contribution, yes, basics - no way.

Do you reckon he can't do any keep-em-ups at half time if he had to do them on the left?

As I suggested in Paul's thread ref MH's starting line up yesterday - it should be him that gets dropped, not Tarbs or Buz....or at least considered for it.

He has been shocking this season and anyone who watched Chelsea or Man City (during his 2nd spell) will tell you the same.

I have seen SWP start on the left start on the riight change flank's during a game and His lack of form tell's us how we managed to sign Him so late in the last window ,
This talk of Him suffering as He is out of position on the left is just something the Warnock knocker's could use to better their aguement but guese what Hughs play's Him on the left as well !

I have no idea, its not like your asking him to play a different position, just opposite flanks, still playing out wide, didn't realise i must admit, how poor his left foot seems to be considering he has played for England on that side. Must have confidence issues because he's not that bad.

You could well be right but let's hope you wrong... we're paying him to much and not going to be easy to sell if we had too.

SWP certainly hasn't come anywhere near living up to the hype that surrounded his arrival.
For me, he frustrates me more than anything else.
