Benny, I was referring to Paul (Mason's) comment that Buzz is more deserving of a place in the XI that Adel. Not your comment.

I was just pointing out that that could only be based on 1 good performance v Wigan. Which is hardly justified.

Then again, I think Adel's got a shock coming to him once he meets our new Manager.

Have we forgot what Taarabt brings to a game?

One good game from Buz and he gets chosen over Taarabt which is madness

People forget he still is one of our best players even after these current signings

      Needs to start every match

I tend to agree Dale, but many don't.

I've a hunch Hughes won't be quite so accomodating as Warnock was with Adel, especially if he doesn't track back and put in a shift or throw a paddy.

Which to be fair, he was starting to do more and more before he left for ACN.
And with more quality brought in over January, Adel will hopefully rise to the challenge and prove his worth as a starter, out left or up front or wherever.

I can see it now, Adel walking into the changing room announcing he's back from his travels and telling MH where he will be playing and how he is going to play....................

                -------------------Kenny-----------------
                - Young - Onuoha - Ferdinand - Taiwo -
                -- SWP -- Barton -- Diatike -- Traore --
                ----------- Cisse ----- Zamora ----------

                Subs
                Cerny or Murphy
                Hall or Gabbidon
                Derry
                Mackie
                Taarabt or Buzz
                Helguson
                Bothroyd
That looks tasty, very tasty indeed.

i'd be tempted to play 3-4-1-2

                  -- SWP -- Barton -- Diatike -- Traore --

                      Definitely would not play three at the back, we've made good signings not world class ones. My team would be;
                      Kenny
                      Young Onuoha Ferdinand Taiwo
SWP(maybe Taraabt on the right) Barton Diakate Traore
                      Cisse Zamora
                      Cerny,Hill,Hall,Mackie,Buz,Helguson, DJ

I don't think the players will feel comfortable with that formation at all. I can't even work it out myself..... 3 at the back in the Premier League without wingbacks, when we are still one of the weaker teams is going to take us one way and that is down.

Prefer the formation suggested at start of thread, however I also think there is room for Adel to play. Not sure Traore will be put on left mid. We are all delighted that Buzz has looked sharp again, but we need to see if he can do that more in the PL before we simply cast Adel aside and look at him as the player we need to unlock a defence.

To be honest I would drop SWP - and have Adel or Buz somehow squeezed in instead. I know this will not happen though.

No one's even seen Diatke play yet - lets wait and see how he adjusts to the Prem.

Buz and Tabs both left out of the starting 11? And only one making the bench so the other dropped altogether? Its a bold suggestion.

Personally think Rs fans will have to think differently about there even being one "starting 11". At home to Wolves with our new improved defence we might even do without a defensive midfielder to give more attacking flair, away to Man City we will need plenty of steel. Hopefully we will see plenty of rotation with no one guaranteed a start and at least 15 players making v regular and telling contributions.

If Barton doesn't start performing at his best, I would put Adel behind the strikers with diakite at centre mid. Sort of like a diamond formation.

Perhaps wishful thinking but going by his recent comments I'd like to think Adel will come back with his head screwed on and really believing we're a club going places.
Suspect the issue that will emerge is how Hughes will want to use him - he's not really managed a player like that before save arguably Elano or Robinho, and that didn't go too well not just in terms of a personality clash but tactically too.

It's obvious Hughes is a staunch 4-4-2 , two banks of four manager but having a fit and determined Adel just as an impact sub or pushed out to the wing would be a cop-out and a waste IMO.

Still, as Stainrod says it should hopefully be more a squad game from now on, and Hughes will judge which games Adel will be best suited to, and be willing to drop Zamora or Cisse if they prove ineffective. Do not want to see the same old XI of players sure of their places home and away every game if it's not working.
