Fulham striker Andy Johnson scuppered the Whites’ bid to sign Wigan’s Hugo Rodallega according to chairman Dave Whelan.
The west London club and the Latics had agreed a swap deal that would have taken the Columbian to Craven Cottage but the 30-year-old Englishman did not want to go to the DW Stadium.
“I’ve no idea why Johnson said no, I think he didn’t fancy coming north,” Whelan said.
“It would have been a good deal for us, but that’s football.''
