i am ****ing angry about the state of this country and the state of society in general....its a disgrace. In another 50 years will it be ok to openly have sexual relations with animals? or members of your own family? or children? Will there be people saying "well what goes in in their private life is nothing to do with me"? The media are poisoning our childrens minds telling them how too look and how too feel and that its ok to have sex with people of the same gender...well its not

Firstly, nice slippery-slope fallacy there. Sex with animals? Really? Do you not understand the phrase 'consenting adults'?

And secondly what is actually being done is educating children to not be hateful and fearful of others just because they're different from them. To teach them that they should treat everyone with the same respect, and not make those that are scared and threatened.

And unfortunately there is still a long way to go.

I think what people are saying here is that they have not objection to people being gay provided they do not flaunt it. If people are gay that is their decision but it is not necessarily something which everybody is obliged to feel is normal.

Discrimination is wrong. However these days minorities tend to construe anything which is said against them as being discrimination.

Now I like looking at women in very short skirts. But to the older generation and certain religious people, that is being "provocative", "in your face", "shocking" etc. So wd you make them cover up and wear a Burka like in some intolerant country in the Middle East? When you say you don't really mind gays but can't they keep it private, what you are really saying is you do actually have an issue with it and think its wrong. Which, to get back to the thread, is why footballers don't feel they can come out and poor blokes like Justin Fashanu top themselves - and why there might well be some young bloke reading this thread struggling with his sexuality who is probably feeling a little bit more rubbish about himself tonight. But if you find that less offensive than a gay man "flaunting it" then that's something you need to square with your own conscience love.

People need to understand England is an extremely pc country and although people moan about racism, homophobia etc we are one of the top level countries of tolerance. In some countries people are forced to have sex changes because of their sexuality and some are even killed. The rest of the world needs to step forward if any kind of discrimination is ever to be got rid of, which will never happen. Also there is a massive difference between people airing their personal views and doing something about it ie saying they don't agree with gays but they would not go out to beat someone up or harm them because of it.

i wouldnt harm anybody for being gay or whatever....just for the recoed before i get labeled as a gay basher as well

I used to think homosex wasn't normal. I was literally taught it in school. (all boys school funnily enough). A teacher used a banana and a side section of an anus to explain how it didn't work. Crazy. After meeting gays and hangout with them and having casual sex with them I think it's totally ok now. The sex bit is a lie. My eyes are for facto only.

Seriously, I personally actually think homosexuality isn't natural. But then neither is anal sex on a woman. But I love it. And i'm sure they love it. There are millions of unnatural things in the world. Like buildings. But they exist. And they are good. Just because it's unnatural doesn't mean we should hate it. Hate is a horrible thing that this world has too much of. Lets love each other more. (This year my partial resolution was to be this. more kind of lovey hippy crap but its working.) We need more positivity people! less hate.

well we could go back 50 years to the norm of gay bashing and persecution where it would all be swept under the carpet, and could live in fear because the misinformed thought them 'abnormal'.

How are gay people doing you any harm? As it has been pointed out, men, like turing, who were more gifted than you and i, who contributed far more to society than we ever shall, were tormented to their deaths by 'the establishment' and popular public prejudices.

What is often more 'disgraceful' in our society is the of irrationally hate-filled bile spouted, even to see it on the terraces. What positive example are 'normal', overfed, undernourished, heterosexual white men, red in the face, spewing spittle, threats and expletives in displays of irrational spite with their kids looking up at them, in turn learning that is the acdeptable way to behave.
