I must admit that I get very tickled by the paradox or dilema that commited and right-on lefties face....
On the one hand everything has to be mega-tolerant and respectful of the individual but simultaneously insisting certain opinions are not permissable.... y'know, "Fee speech for all (as long as you say what we want to hear)" kind of thing.
I find as I get older that politics/dogma are meaningless to me - left/right are as bad as each other. With age you gain a simple coda of treating everyone respectfully and tolerantly as long as they live their lives the same way as best they reasonably can. Physical chracteristrics, sexuality, gender are all totally irrelevant to me.... I just want folks to behave responsibly and mindfully of the society around them; if they do that I'm happy..

if someone called me a **** at my place of work then i would assume they would be disciplined or sacked. Have i ever called someone a "fat" ****? yes..have i ever called someone a term that you would class as racist? yes of course i have...whether in anger or sometimes in jest...yes all the time. i am ****ing angry about the state of this country and the state of society in general....its a disgrace. In another 50 years will it be ok to openly have sexual relations with animals? or members of your own family? or children? Will there be people saying "well what goes in in their private life is nothing to do with me"? The media are poisoning our childrens minds telling them how too look and how too feel and that its ok to have sex with people of the same gender...well its not

its not a problem if whatever they do is in private. Its when its all over the media and being taught to my kids at school that i have a problem with it

I think what people are saying here is that they have not objection to people being gay provided they do not flaunt it. If people are gay that is their decision but it is not necessarily something which everybody is obliged to feel is normal.

Discrimination is wrong. However these days minorities tend to construe anything which is said against them as being discrimination.

In fairness I was being a bit generous. My son is seven and I explained to him why all the Rs fans were so angry with Terry for being so prejudiced. He got the point straight away. So maybe 4-6?
