  • Wow interesting thread to say the least.
I don't think there's much left to comment on other to say that there are areas where people are confusing fact with opinion.

e.g. You can have an opinion that being gay isn't natural but that's a bit like saying you are of the opinion that 2+2 = 5.

    Actually, 2+2 =4 and that's a fact.

So being gay is actually natural - fact. Why? Because it naturally occurs (you do not 'make someone' gay - it naturally happens).

Of course, as someone else mentioned, it is minority occurrence - you are more likely to be heterosexual. Either way, it's perfectly natural, whatever you think!

    • JB does not do himself any favours by bringing up this debate ... specially with the head gear he was wearing the other day!

I must away now, I can no longer tarry
This morning's tempest I have to cross
I must be guided without a stumble
Into the arms I love the most

      • Joey Barton calls for change in 'archaic' attitudes towards gay players in football

Joey Barton has suggested potential discrimination from 'archaic' club managers is to blame for a lack of openly gay footballers in Britain.

Not in the way he's put them across he hasn't.

He can be homophobic, as it's his opinion, but if we call him a homophobe, we're insulting him?

              Nonsense.

You have a supreme lack of self-awareness. It's quite impressive.

thanks and you lack the ability to understand that opinions differ and that yours is not necessarily always right ...we live and learn

THis is what your standing behind remember,

In a 1998 address, author, activist, and civil rights leader Coretta Scott King stated that "Homophobia is like racism and anti-Semitism and other forms of bigotry in that it seeks to dehumanize a large group of people, to deny their humanity, their dignity and personhood."
If you think we're just two people with differing but equal opinions, you're wrong. Your archaic views are diminishing slowly in society, they're not mainstream any more. They will become more marginalised.

lol well i wont start crying about it.
who knows in a few hundred years we will probably live in a genderless society anyway...men and women will be the same. We already have a deluge of effeminate men and masculine women so its a possibility. Must be all this oestrogen finding its way into our drinking water

Thats the problem with using such vague and arbitrary words in a debate like this - everyone has their own personal definitions of them based on their individual experiences, background and education.

Until there's a clear consensus on their definitions people will inevitably, circularly and endlessly be arguing over it...

Seems from your perspective what is 'abnormal' and 'unnatural', is completely 'normal' and 'natural' from another's perspective.

Grasping that simple concept is the starting point and, in a nutshell, is the flaw in this whole debate - because, as I say, they're such arbitrary and subjective terms. It would save much judging and castigating on both sides.
