QPR bid to sign Djibril Cisse from Lazio

QPR have launched a £5million bid to bring Djibril Cisse back to England from Lazio. Lazio reluctantly agreed to make the one-time Lord of the Manor of Frodsham available.

Yeah i noticed that, what a bargain...!

Surprised they didn't opt for a 6 month loan with a view to a perm first to see if he settled....

Now, once upon a time, he was a quality player, but now?

Even as I type this I realise I will prob end up looking like an idiot (cue Paul Mason: "No change there then...") as for all I know he will prove to be the greatest Rangers striker since Les Ferdinand, but it does look a bit like a short term fix. OK, so we are desperate for a centre forward who can score and bring others into play without having to rely entirely on our aged Viking warrior. But has Cise ever recovered from that injury? That said, if Mark Hughes threw the question back and said "so who would you buy for £5m instead?" I'm not sure I'd have an answer (except poss RSC).

Saw him in the flesh play for Marseille at the Velodrome against PSG about four years ago. Ran around like a headless chicken for 60 minutes then got put clean through with the goalie to beat and skied the ball high into North Africa. Then reverted to running around like a headless chicken again for the final half hour.

Home fans were pretty frustrated with him. Hence he didn't last long there either.

we all thought the same with furlong.....a 30 year striker who up until his last club(for a relatively short amount of time) has been a quality goal scorer and people are turning their nose up.....pffttt. barring a medical scuppering this-its a get him on board for me.

I tend to agree. He's had a pretty lean 6 months at Lazio with 5 in 25, but maybe it's the negatve Italian style that doesn't suit. Although the Greek league isn't that great his record there was incredible.

I'm sure there's many on here who would dismiss that and say waste of money, and then in the next breath suggest we buy Rhodes who's only ever scored in the 3rd tier of English football, and his asking price is higher... Yes he's young, but there's no guarantees he'll ever make a top striker.

47 goals in 61 games for Panathinaikos. Thats a very impressive record.

I know it's the greek league but, there are people thinking we should pay a similar amount and more for Jordan Rhodes, who plays in league 1.

Having said that he's obviously not suited to Italian football in the same way Bothroyd isn't suited to Uggs and Chinese national teams aren't suited to the concept of a 'friendly' match.

Says on The Mirror report that he has been played on the wing for most of his lazio career which is worth noting.

When played as a striker he's scored for every team he's played for.

Someone made an excellent point earlier. Who else would you realistically buy for 5 mil instead of Cisse? We were talking about a 30 yr old Zamora for 7 mil
