What about the two recent Labour PM's, who were Scottish, who spent the best part of 15 years encouraging mass immigration, and progressively bankrupting the country mainly through completely unsustainable welfare policies?

Not only that - they ringfenced, would you believe it, Scotland to the point that if you're Scottish you can go to university, or get expensive life saving/prolonging drugs for free..... but if you happen to be English.....

Considering Labour actually ran a system that encouraged millions and millions people not to go to work, basically in order to secure votes, I'd say they are far from the party of the honest working man.

Just my pragmatic thoughts on the matter (I don't vote because they're all shysters).

      fine.
but an academy either opens as brand new or it takes over 1, 2, 3 etc failing schools.
if it *still* fails, then nothings changes, if it improves, then it's a benefit to the community.
      what's wrong with that?

      Gove is doing alright.

Exactly! Labour, the party for the working man? In the 40's they were. Now more like the party of the economically inept and ##### to the recovery halting unions. Anyway as mentioned above they're all shysters!!

Didn't Michael Gove recently vote for the trebling of university fees in England while not saying a single word about free university education in Scotland? What did he have to say about scrapping prescription charges in Scotland but raising them in England?

Anyone who thinks Gove is a top man because he goes to a few QPR matches needs to take a good look at themselves.
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

              But not with public money.

Besides, if you look at the money that the monarchy directly and indirectly generates for UK PLC, £60 million shouldn't even be questioned. The last estimates of direct cash generation were in the region of £2 billion per year.

Er, and not a penny of it will come from public money

It will come from private investors who have already been lined up if it gets the go ahead!

Gove, nor any other Westminster MP can do anything about any educational issues in Scotland because that is the sole remit of Alex Salmond and the Scottish parliament...... that was set up by Anthony Blair and Gordon Brown.

And which government gave 'Sir Fred' is knighthood and signed contracts with the banks to ensure that they could keep giving exorbitant bonuses?

It makes me laugh that so called 'Labour voters' are moaning about the current coalition for not intervening about the potential bonuses that RBS might be giving out when it was their party that signed the contracts with them allowing to give them out in the first place! There is not a great deal the current coalition can do until the contracts run out!

I thought originally he wanted to use taxpayer money before it got torpedoed down?

And what about the safe seats that many Labour MPs have enjoyed?

All parties do it if they think a certain MP is going to do well for the party on a national level.

Labour were hardly going to put Blair trying for a seat in Kensington were they?

You only have to look at the demographic of the country to see what parties the people would vote for!

Milliband's relationship with the trade unions at the moment is not exactly helping his party! If they carry out their threat to stop funding the party then they are screwed!

Well of course the left wing Guardian is going to twist what Gove has put forward.

At the end of the day, if the Queen gets her new boat you and I will not be paying for it.

If I had a choice, I would happily put money towards it. She has served this country so well for 60 years. She may end up being the monarch that has served this country for the longest reign.

Correct, so why doesn't England have its own parliament instead of being run by the British government, and funded at the same level as Scotland is?
