After waiting months and seeing so much about 'ambitious plans' 'bringing in quality players' 'competing with the best' etc etc is easier said than done
Without sounding too much like NW, Beard (fresh from running the o2) and Tony F aren't football men - they are learning the hard way you just can't get the players you want off a list. It's absolutely cutthroat and I suspect they;ve had their eyes opened in the past couple of weeks.
They've got to deal with agents, managers, chairmen, the Home Office the press, ridiculous clauses, demands and it's actually pretty brutal where someone's word counts for nothing (hence players waiting for a better deal / offer elsewhere or pushing for higher wages-clauses after initially agreeing to what was on offer).
The hardest thing they've got to manage is the expectations in supporters they created. Hence Beard doing a lot of media in past 24 hours and playing everything down again.
Something tells me quite a few agents and clubs see them as fresh meat with lots of money and they are learning as they go along = and will make some mistakes on their way.
