  • One Man Strike... Time to make a stand

Anyone who has watched Rangers over the last few seasons knows that we are absolutely desperate for a striker. Someone who is capable of scoring 20 goals a season, not another attacking midfielder that might score 8 or 9 a STRIKER that will score 20 goals. Think back to Helgusson's misses, Norwich at home comes to mind (0-1 defeat) Sheff Utd, played them off the park (0-0) I can go on.

Unfortunately our two bob club is unable to realise that is what we have been missing so I have decided to make a stand and refuse to go to any Rangers game until we have signed one.

Everyone on here needs to take off the the rose coloured spectacles. Comments like 'our midfield will get us 10 goals each blah blah blah.' It is utter crap. Those attacking wingers will be the ones delivering the balls into the box not on the end of crosses. Midfielders need to defend so expect Mahon and Rowlands to play in the middle. Routledge out left and Tarabet on the right. Buz will play just behing Helguson in a 4 - 5 - 1 formation.

The number of forwards that we have let go makes me so angry. Every day someone like Ched Evans is avaiable yet we'd rather splash the cash on an unknown unproven risky signing like Faurlin (whom we blatantly don't need.)

    FUMING.

Never been a forward. Why do I feel like the website tries to con us with its subjective views. We all want the same thing don't we?????? What are they trying to hide?

Well obviously you know better than anyone with an alternative opinion....

Oh by the way, Valencia won the La Liga title in 2001/2 and their top scorer in the league had 7 goals....

No, it just dispels the myth that a 20 goal striker is essential. I can't be bothered to repeat comments i;ve mad ein the past on the subject, but Man Utd dominated English football for years in the Hughes era and they spread the goals out between the front two and midfield, mostly with double figures and none mile ahead of anyone else. That is the best template to aspire to as one prolific striker can get injured.

I'd love to join in with this view Del but our midfielders aren't that spectacular. Why didn't it happen last year then? Ok Buz and Vine were missing but Routledge and Tarabet played as did Cook and Rowlands. Hardly set the world alight.

This theory has never worked in Championship, think Ebanks at Wolves, Philips at WBA. It's the games that you sneak 0-1 away from home that get you promotion and invariably its a decent forward that pops up with those. We shall see.

Or maybe - the new management have seen something that tells them we already have a striker good enough.
But that is heresy isn't t?
                      Helgusson IS crap.
                      Balanta IS too young.
                      Agyemang IS too old.
We WONT be signing anyone else.
And, we ALL know better than JM and JG.

                      All the above is FACT.

So - you are going to "refuse" to go to a game until we sign a 20-a-season striker eh Kingy?
Even if we are top of the league scoring for fun? (Hypothetically speaking of course!)

Of course a star striker is a bonus and all teams would want one, hey best of both worlds is a striker in the 20's and supporting players in double figures. All i'm saying is it's not essential.

AS for last year, you rightly highlight that probably our 2 best players were out who's goals we missed, but also there was next to no creativity in the side that did play to create chances, not to mention negative tactics....

Rewind to the previous season under LDC and the second half of that campaign plenty of players chipped in with goals... Buz, Vine, Dave, Rowly. With an attack minded coach, this team could prosper.

But you may be right and we may just fall short, but i hope that's not the case.

We have signed a striker in Pepsicola no1 really knows what he is going to be like so its unfair to just write him off he has already scored and he hit the post twice 2nite so he sounds lively and could be a good find! Added to that we have Taarabt in on loan who wants to play up front, then we have Helguson, Vine, Agyemang and Balanta who can all play up front! If we get another striker in who do we drop? I would like to see a real quality striker added but we already have a lot of attacking options at the club and its a case of fitting them all in! Someone like Kamara would be brilliant because he would be the focal point that the creative players can play off but including sum1 like him would be at the expense of sum1 like Vine or Buzsaky!

I'm more worried about a left back the only one we have is Borrowdale he doesn't seem to be up to much!
