  • Last night's game and why things will get better

Well last night was a pretty dire performance but ultimately it's results that count and somehow we managed to spawn a win when the Dons should have nailed it by scoring a couple in the first half. Observations:

    Confidence
This is the biggie for me. I saw a team extremely low on confidence - borne out by the missed chances, and the body language. Even at the end the heads were still hanging. I guess the players are feeling under pressure to perform, whilst the team has been going through a poor run, but now more than ever we need to get behind them as once the confidence returns, so will the results.

    Pace
We were almost playing in slow-mo a lot of the time - especially when we were going forward. Contrast that to the fact that the Dons actually had movement in their play, and this is an area we really need to address. Buzz and Derry in the centre are too slow and although Buzz still has a good touch at set pieces, we were poor in the centre of the park.
SWP is definitely under-performing and I am sure he will get better.
Bothroyd kept on going wide, his lack of confidence is a problem now.

    Key players out
We are missing Traore's impetus and also the absence of Barton and Tarbs isn't helping. I am hopeful Barton will step up to the plate and become the captain we'd like to see him being.

    Shape
The 4-4-2 was more evident and will take some time to gel. I think it'll work for us.

    Fans
The home support was extremely average and we simply need to do better to gee the team on. Far too many just sat there not interacting at all. If that's the case, stay at home and watch it on telly. If you turn up, you should give the team your support.

    My tuppence-worth!
    come on you r's!

I saw a game that really could have gone either way, and you couldn't see a 2 division difference, both looked mid championship quality sides imo.

It is to do with team confidence, and with a win under our belt, and hopefully 2 or 3 new faces in, players back from Africa soon, we can push on starting with a must win against Wigan.
