Our bids have been £5m, then £6.5m both widely reported.
Now £7.5m, which leaves a final bid of £8m to match the initial suggestions of his worth.

Of course, Spurs are still favoutires as they can match anything we offer and are considerably more attractive due to being at the better end of the table and in Europe. Of course, Man City's alleged interest makes us (and Spurs) even less likely, not to mention PSG in his homeland.

Which is a shame as I rate him much better than Cahill.
Anyone who witnessed his outstanding performance at both ends at LR this season, will vouch.
Whereas Cahill, apart from 1 sweet strike at the shrine on Day 1 this season, has been very poor for Bolton (most goals conceeded in Prem) or England and not justified his August price (when he should have walked).
That and being almost out of contract, means Chelski have overpaid IMO, but Samba would be a better acquisition, as I say IMO only.

I still think we should put a bid of 12m or even 15m for him & Hoilett.

From what I've seen of Hoilett he is an excellent player who can open up defences, which I feel is our biggest problem.

Surely it must be obvious to everyone by the timing and comments by Samba that there is a real interest in joining us.

        1. Why put a transfer request in now when there has been a lot of interest in the past and he has never wavered. Seems a big coincidence that Hughes has just been appointed and has shown an interest.
        2. If you look at Sambas statement it says he needs a new challenge not that he wants to go to a bigger club or win things, another coincidence don't you think.
        3. He has undoubtedly been told to force the transfer through in this window, why the rush if he intends to go to Spurs or City. We need him now to keep us up, they certainly do not need him short term to fulfill their ambitions.
        4. The bookies have reduced their odds even further and thy do not get much wrong.

We might not get him as a lot can go wrong or Blackburn could play hard ball, but that is unlikely as player power wins in the end.

Probably cost a fair bit, particularly wages and signing on etc but would certainly not write it off.

I REALLY hope you're right Ricky, but I can only see point 4 in our favour, the rest all open him to bids from other bigger clubs who are waiting for us to drop away or get a favouable response from Blackburn, at which point........

I said the same as number 1 . As soon as warnock left he had announced he wanted to leave, Hughes must have spoken to him anyway they get on very well. Come on big Chris you know it makes sense

Bolton reputedly turned down a £10m offer for Spurs on deadline day thinking they'd get a lot more.
