Transfer news: Christopher Samba wants to leave Blackburn
Blackburn defender Christopher Samba has handed in a transfer request.
The 27-year-old has been linked with a move to QPR and Tottenham, with the west London club favourite to sign the defender, given his relationship with Mark Hughes.
Samba has made 17 appearances for Blackburn this season but, last week, revealed he was unhappy at the Lancashire club.
He missed Saturdays match with illness, which had led to speculation that he had refused to play in the 3-1 win over Fulham.
On submitting a transfer request, he said: "I have today officially requested a transfer from Blackburn Rovers Football Club. I have personally informed the owners, manager and executives at the club that I want to leave in this transfer window.
"In my five years at Blackburn Rovers Football Club I have always given 100 per cent in every game I have played. I have had several opportunities to leave but I have always stayed.
"I have decided now is the right time for me to pursue a new challenge and I have asked the club to respect my decision and allow me to leave.
"I thank the fans for their support and I hope they feel I have served them and their club well."

I would say Samba is ours and MH would have had this agreed verbally with the player before he signed on as Manager.Spot on. Rangers can offer him first team football week in week out. Spurs have 5 first team centre backs who are all at a very good standard! Sparky would have already spoken to Samba and who knows drummed it into him about joining QPR. Funny how two days after Hughes joins, Samba releases a statement saying he wants to leave?
