There seems to be some confusion over where some of our players should play. Well here is Minty's definitive overview of the current squad and their correct positions, which then tells us exactly where we are short of either players or quality. Here goes........

Nice try Pete! Rowlands is natural in both central and Right midfield (ie. not a typing error on my part!!!). ;)

As for Rowlands being a defensive midfielder, I think you are right to a degree. To be politically correct he is what they call an MC (rather than AMC). An MC can defend and create (I think), so you are right there. Leigertwood is also an MC, to be fair. But best role is DM.

Very good assessment Minty.

I think though that Rowlands best position is central midfield although we originally bought him as a right winger - he no longer has the pace to play there.

We are short at full back and injury, suspension or loss of form to either Ramage or Borrowdale and we end up playing players out of position. We have 14 midfielder in this list compared with just 6 defenders. We do need to lose two or three midfielders and bring in a couple of defenders to not only cover ourselves in case of injury but also to provide competition.

Ramage although improving is almost guaranteed a starting position all season without having anyone competing for his position. Bring in someone like Cranie for competition and whoever is form and playing better starts.
