I have started to think no we won't.

People can say what they want about the performance today, I didn't see the wonder performance people seem to think we gave - especially as Newcastle are not all that, we dominated them at LR and they have as many out as we do. That's with players playing to impress the new gaffer.

Why would decent players want to come to a team in the bottom three? Not many will.

Even if they do, we will have to have a miraculous change in of fortune or see some other teams really drop off...at the moment our rivals are getting points.

Also - a crucial point is how MH deals with Joey IMHO - he has been a total let down as a player, captain and leader - on and off the pitch. If MH doesn't sort that twerp out, then we are going down.

Just my view, I am sure many won't share any of it.

My head says relegation - we missed too many games in the start of the season and the christmas period. Unless we can go on some crazy winning streak in the next 2-3 games I cannot see us staying up.
My head also says that according to statistics all 3 promoted teams cannot stay up and we are not looking good on that account.
My heart says it hurts to be a rangers fan. Hope is not high as PB and MH keep saying that the january window is very hard and we may not get the (good) quality players we need. My heart sincerely hopes that they are bluffing and the class players are floating in during the next too weeks......

        Agree with all of that.

Newcastle were shite. How the **** they beat Man Utd 3-0 I'll never know.

I agree with that as well - our tactic was better than usual but the players are the same and still making game changing individual errors like Young and Derry and not least Bothroyd.

You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

we have a great chance of survival.

There is a group of 5 teams , we just need to be 1st or 2nd in that group , with new signings and an experienced manager and back room team we have a good chance.

It was never going to be easy was it after the preseason debacle and change of ownership.

Not forgetting them at all, Swansea away 1-1 decent result at their place
Norwich home ref makes game changing decision by sending off JB.
Sunderland home we came roaring back from 2 down and they nicked in the last min.
As for the other games I mentioned we only lost 0-1 to both Arsenal and Liverpool and if i remember rightly had a late shout for a pen at Anfield turned down, and hands up man U were too good so all in all yes we lost but didn't do that badly and i'm not sure Hughes would have made a difference with the team we have.

The point i'm making if you bother to read the thread is would MH have done better with the same players.

It is all doom and gloom at the moment and I am feeling as pessimistic as a lot of people on here.

                          However...

The reality is we only need to match and slightly improve upon the performances of 3 other teams to stay up (teams we also still need to play). Both Blackburn and Bolton are looking likely to weaken their teams with the sales of Samba, Hoilett and Cahill where as we are likely to strengthen ours.

Promoted teams traditionally have a dip in form in the second half of the season but I feel with 3-4 signings that our second half can be infinitely better than our first. Swansea and Norwich seem invincible at the moment but they will have a dip in form. A win against Swansea and a little run of results for us and I can still see us getting above them in the table.

It's going to be tough but the first half of the season showed that we were (just) good enough to be in this league. The second half with a stronger squad and (sorry Neil) a better manager I think will demonstrate the same.

i would like to think with fitter players and more tactical awareness another couple of points at least

If you put yaself in Tony's boots relegation is not an option.

Maybe, but no manager can plan for individual errors JB gave the ball away against Man U, SWP gave the ball away against Arsenal, and both scored from those mistakes
