I'd say oblivious summed up Neil over past 2 months..... his grinning and excuse-laden pre/post-match interviews made me feel he just wasn't understanding the gravity and magnitude of our slump in form. He just didn't seem to have any apprecaition of the fact that buck stops with him and, in this results orientated business, his neck was on the line.

i personally think NW knew his time was coming to an end very soon any that's why he wanted to get players in before Newcastle so he could show Amit and Tony that he was able to turn things around.
All through December NW was saying he had deals/plans/targets already. When the bids started to get turned down last week Tony and Amit must have been telling him that it's not working out.
I think NW knew for a while this was coming UNLESS he was able to get players in quick. When this was clear it wasn't going to happen (bar Macheda) the owners said "we'll we better get a new guy in fast so they've got a couple of weeks to get deals done"
