Matty: mate, I work in the media - no chairman or chief exec is going to go on the record with a quote like that. Those things are always done off the record. Whenever fans dont like what they are hearing they make out some evil journalist has made it up. Fernandes - and Warnock even more - will have a dozen journalists on speed dial. Where do you think all those nudges and winks about transfer targets have come from? Read the article again closely and tell me you really think that has been made up or gleaned from the words of wisdom on this board, as some are even suggesting.
Fair enough mate. I have zero knwoledge of the media industry (bar a broad knowledge of page 3 girls' nipple shades and sizes).

I was purely going on the basis that no quotes to back up the story meant it was a non-story.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

Ridiculous journalism in my opinion !!

TF knew even in August that we were only ever going to scrape through till January and it was going to be damage limitation till then .

The fact we nicked some points on the way has been an utter bonus .

TF , NW and AB would have snapped your hand off (in August ) to be out of the bottom 3 come 31.12.11 with a transfer window to come !!!

I wish some on here could see it the same way !!!

      rant over

You cant blame Tony, i mean the last two months have been poor for results, and relegation is now a real possibility, he has to think of the financial peril this club would be in if relegated with the sort of players that have been mentioned.

I think that the article is just getting bits from here and there and hashing them all together.

However, there is no smoke without fire. It's almost 100% given that Tony and Amit have questioned Warnocks apparent "square pegs in round holes" approach of late - yet Warnock can argue, with some conviction, that he has his hands tied by injuries allied to a severe lack of squad depth.

I think it's probably something like this:

            * Strengthen the squad to keep us up but be as frugal as possible.
            * With the new strengthened squad, start playing the best players in their natural positions.
            * Start getting some results.
            * Sort out or sack the backroom staff - no more turning up p!ssed.
            * If this doesn't happen then we will need to reconsider your position.

            Common sense?

Warnock said in a press conference in December we'd more likely look at loan signings rather than pay overinflated for players in January. It's just a reworking of previous stated intent.

Despite wild rumpled we were never honing to spend £7-8 million on a player,I expected about £10 in total spent in window and still do,If Warnock stays he will be backed.

[QUOTE=stainrodisalegend;769793]Dou Dou: have you actually read the article? Unlike the Star it says Warnock's job is not under immediate threat but his spending plans have been reigned it. In all fairness to it this is not a "sensationalised" article at all, its actually quite nuanced.

Yes I've read the article and I still think it is pure speculation, where has the £20 million figure been produced from for example?

I agree, its not as sensationalised as the Star, but its simply been toned down to match the style of the Mail.

Articles like this are easy column fillers at this time of year. All they do is create hysteria around something that isn't even there.

Maybe we are putting this about, we don't want to be giving the impression our pockets are bottomless.
