  • Neil Warnock, changing Managers and recent results

Interesting to see that opinion on here is divided on whether or not to sack Warnock, however the poll on here, and those on other sites, show that only around 10% want this to happen. There are three possible solutions -

Firstly everyone gets behind Neil, he gets plenty of cash to spend and he sees the season through.

Secondly, he is given until the end of February to prove his worth, then make a change if results don't improve,

and lastly, change the manager now, let him bring in 4 or 5 of 'his' players and go with it.

Personally, my head says opt for the second scenario. Warnock does deserve a chance to turn things around, but equally PL survival is vital for the club going forward. Should we not do this, will we still hear talk of a new training ground, new stadium etc etc? I fear not.

My heart, however, says stay with Neil until the end of the season. I think we all differ on this from time to time, some days we want a change, the next day certain other results go for us, and we think the opposite! So what is the answer? Do we really want to sit by and watch our beloved QPR fall back down again and into the downwards spiral that is relegation or do we demand a change if results don't improve?

One thing we all seem to be missing here is that although recent results have gone against us, we are only one win away from where we need to be. 20 points from 21 games, and we'll be on track for survival. We may not be able to predict or see where this 'extra' win will come from, but who would have predicted wins at Everton and Stoke? Blackburn have shown that any team can get a result against the big teams, whose to say we won't pull one of these 'shock' results out of the bag. We could win at United, at home to Spurs and Liverpool. Its been done before.

I'm not sure what the answer is, but as someone posted elsewhere, we have stability now at our club, and for those who state backroom problems, every club has those. Stability and team spirit, one of Neil's definite strong points, might just see us safe. All I do know is that had we beaten Sunderland or Norwich we would not be discussing this issue.
22nd February away v Charlton is the 40th Anniversary of my support of QPR and my first game. Away v Chelsea 3-3 23rd Feb 1974. 40 years of pure magic!!

Personally I think he should be given the season, I think he has earned that.

I have to say though I think he needs a reality check and a serious talking to by Tony Fernandes. His tactics in recent matches have been terrible, I know we have a cr*p squad but it's no excuse. That 4-5-1 formation with no pace up top is so incredibly easy to play against.

I've also had enough of Warnock's ridiculous positivity after every defeat. He shouldn't be smiling after a loss even if it is against the big boys. Anyone with any doubt about what I'm saying, have a look at Mick McCarthy's interview on the BBC after they lost to Chelsea. He was fuming, he knew they deserved (and needed) a point and didn't care if it was Chelsea or anyone else at the top who had beaten them.

Warnock has been great for us but I really think he needs to wise up. I also think he could do with a reminder that he's not invincible from TF.

TF is here for the long term and has already said words to the effect that relegation is not the end of the world, although obviously we would all be disappointed.

Er, I have heard worse excuses. That made me laugh.

I dont think we have a crap squad at all, in fact IMO, we have the basis of a good team and with a few additions, it could be a really good team. What we do have though is a manager who for whatever reason makes strange team selections, employs strange tactics and makes ineffective substitutions, which in some cases like Sunday when he took of Taarabt, weaken the team.

If we were to sort the team selection, tactics and substitutions out we would not be where we are in the league now.

What I'm saying is that only having 5 or 6 established Premier League doesn't excuse the state of the negative tactics we were subjected to against Norwich.

We'd be down by then if results keep going this way

I'm still waiting for someone to educate me on this attitude as I've read it on several threads and no one has explained it yet.

The tactics we were subjected to against Norwich saw us a goal up and comfortably in charge of the game, all notwithstanding some very anti Rangers refereeing decisions. Even after the Barton sending off, we were the better team and created all the best chances in the game. The tactical changes made at half time were good and kept us in the game, the tactics before the sending off saw us ahead and in charge.
The only choice that made little sense was taking Adel off but that's not what you're talking about so please explain.

Comfortably in charge of the game?.........Were you there? That certainly isn't what I saw!

We were god awful from the kick off and very lucky to get our noses in front. Totally devoid of any attacking threat until SWP came on, no pace, no ideas, unable to hold onto the ball and hoofing it HH at every opportunity!

IMO, SWP should have payed form the start, Barton should have been in the middle with Faurlin, Macki on the left (as he has to play), Taarabt should have been behind HH and Derry should have been on the bench. Bringing SWP on at half time was not a tactical change, it was tactically inept not to start him on the right wing in the first place and taking Taarabt off was a massive own goal as it killed us stone dead. Also, bringing on Macheda when you could see SWP putting in some fantastic crosses was strange, but I guess Macheda needed to get a round of applause, as he came from Man Utd.

Would have Traore over Mackie at LM if he was fit though.

How many goals had we scored compared to them. In fact, how many chances had they created....... none which puts us in control. Just because it doesn't fit your argument doesn't make it right Tarbs. And don't get me wrong, when I saw the line up I was pretty annoyed because I didn't think it was the way to go against Norwich, but it was working and you can't deny that.
Oh and as for hoofing, Rangers played in the hooped shirts, Norwich, the ones in white, were the ones lumping everything up in the air.
