    Thoughts from yesterday.........

Came away from the game feeling very frustrated once again. We had some good possession but in the final third we were so poor. Our attacking players just don't want to try and do something where they can hurt the opposition. So many time Tarabat got into some good positions, but rather attack their full backs who were on a yellow he tried to pass it which came to nothing.

Our set plays just get worse. I have no idea what they practise on the training pitch, but hopeful balls in the morning mean nothing at the moment!

We are simply not scoring enough and this needs to be addressed sharpish. All the players did well and it was a shame that SWP who I felt had his best game for us gave the ball away.

Yet again I cannot see what Mackie offers to the side. He just doesn't do anything. I don't know about the relationship he has with Warnock but he must make him happy in some way.

Tomorrow is a massive game. I've got a bad feeling about it, but it is a must win.
First game: Arsenal vs Queen's Park Rangers at Highbury, Saturday 17th November 1984.

Taarabt's gay dive wound me up. He was through, and might have scored, but he tried to cheat the ref and was lucky not to get booked.

Agree, he should have done things differently, but had a decent game overall. He needs to continue to build his confidence up. Spent a LNG time on the bench, and rightly so. The time out seems to have made him hungry once again, so hopefully that'll continue.

We need to be more positive against these teams think we show far too much respect to them, be a bit more like (I hate to say Norwich get in teams faces) also getting sick of Warnocks after match interviews on how he keeps telling us how F#####g good these other teams are, rather he said nothing and just discussed our shortcomings in games and what intends to do about them. By the way I'm not saying he should be sacked

I think sometimes we are slow on attack. We just give up and pass the ball back towards the keeper. We just have no confidence in the final third at all which is a little bit worrying.

It's the set plays that get me. We seem to have no idea on variations from the training ground. There is no consistency on who is taking them. It was Barton, now it's Taarabt.

When was the list time we saw a "clever" free kick or corner straight off the training ground?

Sorry, and final rant, I dont understand the play where we have the ball in the opposition half on the wing...decide not to take on the defender...knock it around a bit...cant find a way through...pass it back...and back all the way to cerny/kenny who then punts it straight up the pitch to the centre forwards/backs. That happened 3 or 4 times, where we simply gave away cheap possession, when we started the move with the ball in the opposition half, in a position where a cross could have been generated. Players are scared of losing possession so give responsibility to the GK for distribution! Occasionally, to mix it up, a quick long ball can work (Mackie vs Swansea) but not because of our own lack of invention.

And we did the usual long ball from kick off which went straight out for a throw! So frustrating!

There was an incident first half where adel had so much space to run into and elected to cross a ball when the nearest defender 20 yards away!! That's where you want adel to run at them not cross!!
Ref our set pieces they are so shite we are always more vunerable then threatening, not sure how that works!!
One thing really annoying when vermarlen went off they put a kid in at left back why not put swp on him and run at him ??

Don Masson or Terry Venables are the only ones I ever saw taking different/training pitch ideas for free kicks (showing my age !)
I came here to chew gum and kick ass,and I'm all outta gum!

I don't disagree , were in the stands and know fk all Abt management and when arsenal made that sub was screaming for swp go there and adel behind dj

It's like the tactics we start with we will stick with and there's no awareness of what to do when things change

I think NW is very naive when going into the games against the big four/five. It seems he goes into these games just happy to be at Anfield/Emirites etc and expects nothing from the game. When we go a goal down, he thinks 'hey ho, I knew it would be like this but we're here and in the PL'. I wish he approach these games with the idea of attacking the opposition on their own patch. If we're going to lose lets at least have a right old go at them.
22nd February away v Charlton is the 40th Anniversary of my support of QPR and my first game. Away v Chelsea 3-3 23rd Feb 1974. 40 years of pure magic!!
