Pete your right, with the likes of Buzz, Vine and even the new guy Faurlin we have a good midfield but as it showed last year it only takes a couple of injuries and the season is practically over. We need more than 3 or 4 good players to progress from this league and a good manager as well to be honest

McGoldrick was £1m apparently, and they've signed Gunter for £1.75m, McKenna was 750k, and have a bid of £2m in for Fox at Coventry.

£1.6m for Dex.

Maybe Gunter was too expensive but at least they have the balls to spend some money.

We could argue all day about this subject and it splits fans down the middle, abit like the Blackstock debate, but I am for forever being told our defence is good enough, with Buzz, Rowlands, Faurlin and others in midfield thats good enough, so it comes down to one striker.

Why spend 5 million on players?

look at every team that has gone up has spent about £4mil or more on PROVEN PLAYERS.

Pete - Balance that against the money received from ticket sales (last season & this season), player sales, merchandise and sponsorship etc, spending £6M is hardly something to shout about, it just highlights how frugal they have been.

i think if it had been solely the Mittals in the chair then they would be throwing money at it.But Flabio has the final say and its gotta be done HIS way cos he is a well known egomaniac and an arrogant bastad to boot.

It seems to me that the board attempting to do things the right way, i.e. building a squad without bankrupting the club.

However mixing that approach with panic buys and sacking managers seems a bit odd. If you have a 4 year plan then you need to give a stable management structure that much time to achieve the aims. As it stands the squad is not strong enough, the first 11 may be capable of a top six finish but the squad over the course of a season is not.

The board do have the ambition, but the plan is too vague and they appear to be a bit crap at implementing it

And who will that be?? Those type of strikers will be snapped up by lower league prem teams if they are any good? And before people say Cox & Beckford..They are not proven in the CCC.

Yet this season, there seem to be the same risk of bringing players who nobody have heard of. sometimes you can bring quality players at good price such as Paul McKenna who signed for Forest. With Blackstoke leaving, why doesn't the club approach Marcus Tudgay?

Regarding Lopez, I read that he did not sign due to the offer. Why didn't the club increased it little bit? At least you know him. Another lack of ambition?

Neither was Doyle when he signed for Reading, or Scotland at Swansea. You can't always wait until they are proven at this level.

its pathetic really 3 weeks to go we have no back up keeper, no decent left back and no forward now to score the goals we need. The board are a bunch of clueless *****s when it comes down to football matters:anger::anger::anger:

There have been opportunities to sign quality proven players, either on bigger wages or for a fee. Kevin Phillips was one. I feel that one of the League 1 top boys would be good. At least they are settled in this country. And let's not forget where Sir Les came from.... How about using our clout and ambition to lure one of the top fellas from another championship club. I mean, we're supposed to be serisouly ambitious, yet we can't seem to pinch a top scorer from another club...

I am hoping Jim can assess this and sort it soon. Maybe that is what was being waited for? If so I can accept that as long as we now sort it out.
