That's fair enough. Seems a lot have said he played well today. I must admit watching games back on Sky+ does show you things you didn't see at the match.
I thought he put in a good shift, best for a while when you take into account how long he was on the pitch for. In saying that I don't think it was half as good as some are trying to make out, I thought he might give us something extra where set pieces are concerned turns out they were just as shiit as when somebody else takes them.
I'm not going to get into a spat with individuals but I do sometimes wonder if certain posters genuinely don't get it, or whether they miss the point deliberately.
Tabs also played last season against Swansea, so what is the point being made here? What Ric and others were trying to explain was that our passing now looks so much improved with Adel back in the team. Take out his inventiveness and we look a Championship side. No one is saying he is a model pro or a wonderful guy or a Rangers fan through and through - just that he makes us look at least half a Prem side. If you don't see it like that, there prob isn't any point arguing.
I only wonder if certain posters wd be happier supporting Watford, say, because there is a side long noted for route one, hack it clear, hoof it up to the big guy football - full of honest endeavour. But that is not what I thought Rangers stood for, or why I started supporting us in '76. Its flair and skill that gets me off my seat. If others want to call the kind of players I like indulgent, fair enough, but would Marsh, Bowles, Currie, Stainrod or Weagerle have ever made their first team? Hey, but don't worry - there would always be room for a Marcus Bean...
I prefer to watch a team put out by Arsene Wenger, others might prefer watching one drilled by Mick McCarthy. Of course you need grit, particularly for a newly promoted side, and none of those who have remained loyal to Adel have ever questioned that. But you also need magic. Its about balance. And without Adel we don't have enough skill to unlock defences often enough.
Call me old fashoined but I also think football should be about entertainment. Some get a kick out of watching Shaun Derry chasing shadows, sweating, standing in the way, fouling in frustration - fair play to you. I prefer watching Adel Taarabt. And so, it seems, do lots of other Rs.
Mate, what you've said is 99% right and i cant disagree witht he majority of it..only; that does he actually make us look half good prem side or just a good championship side. I'm not sure TBH..If he played like he apparently did tonight; against say Man City, Man Ure or even Foolham then yes he is a prem player...But to be honest i havent seen it from him (partly because he hasnt played)....
I know lots of people love him and he's the most skillfull in the team blah blah blah....doesn't automatically make him a good prem player, just makes the rest rubbish....?
For me the jury's still out on Taarbs as a premiership player. I also disagree with anyone who says hes our best player. He is without doubt our potential best player but to achieve the accolade of being our best player he has to produce week in week out. Give me Faurlin everyday of the week over Taarabt. I love talented players with something different thats why i started to support this great club cos of Stan Bowles.
The same old things crop up with Adel everytime. Bad attitude, laziness, tantrums and most of all his showboating in the wrong areas. I can put up with his not chasing back and sometimes his bad attitude for the moments of genius he produces but in the premiership if he tarts around with the ball and loses it in our own half or on the half way line were in big trouble. This has been proven with Barton giving the ball away a few times and each time it has cost us a goal. We always seem so vulnerable on the counter attack. Without doubt Adel gives us something going forward no other player at our club has. The ability to do something different. I will never forget last season the pass from the left wing with the outside of his boot against Coventry to set up Routledge to score. Probably the best pass ive seen ever. On the other hand he lost the ball showboating down near the right corner flag against Watford at home and they broke away and scored. I love the guy but he also infuriates me in equal numbers.
The problem with Adel is where to play him to get the most out of him and also to make sure when he over elaborates he does it in a position that wont leave us wide open to a counter attack. For me i see Adel as a second striker similar to what Beardsley was to Lineker. If Adel plays wide left and loses the ball were in the doodoo. Traore is great going forward but him and Adel on the left is a defensive nightmare waiting to happen. He doesnt have the work rate to play centre midfield so for me he has to play second striker/Attacking midfielder. We need someone like Bridge at Left back with Traore in left midfield and SWP in his right position at RMF. Ali and Barton in the centre with Adel just behind the main striker. This then causes the dilemma that if Adel plays second striker then who would be the main striker. For me if AT is second striker then DJ has to be the main striker as he has the pace and movement that HH and JB don't. If Adel plays second striker HH doesn't have the movement to make runs behind that DJ would do. But having said that HH is our best header and with Traore LMF and SWP RMF he would benefit from the crosses that would inevitably come in. I know people on here have slated Jay Bothroyd but i still like the guy and i don't think he has really settled yet. I still think he has good movement, decent hold up play and with confidence he could prove to be the best of the three given time. All if's and buts and i'm glad its NW with this headache and not mine.
Going back to Adel most of his problems this season were brought on by himself. For the first few games he looked slow and a stone over weight and was obviously still in prima donna mode. Then Joey Barton arrived and Adel was no longer the king of the castle as Barton was given the captaincy and it was plain to see his confidence nose dived. I think getting dropped has done him the world of good as he looks sharp, eager and the swagger is back. The class was always there now we just need the hunger. Maybe dropping Barton will do the same to him cos in my eyes he's been a major disappointment and his passing has been woeful.
January window coming up and a good run of games that are very winnable. For me the in's i would like are Bridge, Samba, Bassong, McEachran (Loan), Townsend (Spurs - Loan/Permanent) and either Defoe, Bent or Zamora. I know McEachran is Chelscuuum and i hate to say this but the guy will be the English Maradona and in the England team for a long time to come. He's looking for a loan move in January and wud love to see him here. Check him out on you tube.
Paul mason goes very quiet when his pathetic posts come back to haunt him on days like this.
Come back paul. For someone so opinionated about Adel Taarabt you seem very quiet tonight.
No internet signal under your rock?
He played really well and I'm not the only person who thought he burnt his bridges, people like benny have been more vocal than me, but you ignore him which speaks volumes. Regarding the corners and free kicks, they were poor but that's life. is this what your gonna be like if and when he plays well ?
You need to read mate as I have had him in every starting team since he came on as Sub, but you fail to recognise that, so crack on with your comments, as I have not said he should not be playing, so it makes yours and others digs at me pointless.

Great post Stainrod but i have to pull you up on your comment about Derry.
Ok he has struggled at times with the pace of the prem but for all the games Adel won us last season with a touch of brilliance Derry won us with discipline and professionalism and without him i do not believe we would of gone up. He has also played his part this year with fantastic dislpays against Chelsea and Everton. Derry isnt the future but deserves a bit more credit than you have give him there
