We can't even spend 2 million on a player unless u believe the argie spin, so there is no way we would cover the 30k a week which is the min for 50/50. Great player but have to agree with w12, we need to lower this expectation. Ched Evans would be a realistic target and I don't understand why we are not interested

At least make the inquiry! and if the player is too billy big time then at least we tried. and no i DONT accept our transfer policy and think the club should be more ambitious financially otherwise its another mid table season .. i want promotion and i thought the backing of a billionaire and a couple of millionaires would secure that.

Personally doubt Ched Evans would want to sign for us over Sheff Utd, we missed our oppurtunity last season but one would suspect the transfer fee would have been higher even if Citeh would have let him go, which at the time they wouldn't. The lad wanted to sign for us but it never happend and seeing as his old man has moved back to Wales now it probably never will.

just thought it might get better now we have these guys backing...after all it was them that promised us premiership football in 4 years when they came in and it was them that started talking about Champions League too (lol)...dont you remember that Gulf Air bloke on the microphone in the middle of the pitch saying he will be seeing us soon in the champion league also? makes ya cringe.
We have better players now in most positions than we had before they arrived but whiy not go the whole way and get us a Championship or play off challenging squad?

Vblock - I'm not arguing with you, of course I agree we should be in for precisely the players you mention like Cox, Fox, Beckford etc (except Sturridge: totally unrealistic) but our board are patently not prepared to spend the money. They always said we were a poor club with rich owners, and boy are we learning the hard way just how poor we are.

What confuses me still though is that Flav, Bernie and The Mittals turn up and sit under their cashmere blankets, watch us play crap and not score any goals and still dont get it. They invite their rich buddies to come and watch this crap and must have sold the sponsors on the idea that we would be a premiership team this season and yet they dont see what every single supporter knows, we need a decent striker and decent strikers might cost a few quid.
Even worse than that, they sell our only consistent goalscorer to one of our rivals.
Can anybody explain this to me?

1).what do you think we have in store for the coming season?
2).what do you think will happen between now and big kick off?
3). will we replace dex? what level of player will we replace him with?
4). how do you see the season going and where do you predict we will finish?
1). I'm an optimist and think we now have the right managerial set up to progress. I think the quality football will improve and with that will come the atmosphere. I don't think scoring goals will be a problem this year under these 2 but our defence may leak a few more goals as a result.
2). A lot of whinging and moaning about signings, ST's & lack of ambition on here. The players will train we will play a few pre season games. Pete will try to make up another new song for Faurlin and the BO will fook up sending out every ones new season tickets which when we go to use are bound not to work.
3). If Leroy Lita hasn't found a club by the start of the season in the Premiership 'innit' I can see us signing him. I would be shocked not to see us replace Blackstock. The thing about trialists is you don't have to sign them and if JM or JG don't think they are good enough then we won't sign them. If the signing of Parejo was anything to go by then I wouldn't be surprised to see Briatore pull something out of the hat as well. The thing which makes me laugh is Pete posts 'can't see us signing anyone else' and we all start throwing your toys out of the pram. 2 days later he posts 'oh we might be signing a new striker' and you all start screaming for Beckford, Cox, Sturridge???. Why not have a little patience, take a look at strength in our squad we have, you know we really don't have that bad a team as it is.
4). I think we will finish higher than last year on 68-75 pts but still may miss out on the Play Offs. Thing is PL doesn't really excite me as much as others I just want to see us playing well and wouldn't mind a few battling seasons playing attractive football before getting promoted from the CCC. Watching us get drubbed everyweek in the PL will make you wish you were back in the CCC. For me top flight football has changed a lot since we were last there, you think its expensive now you wait till we are promoted and see how much you enjoy paying Premiership prices when we are getting battered every week....still it is the promised land so I guess its the place to be.Last edited by W12_Ranger; 20-07-2009, 01:59 PM.
