If we could get a fee then definately cash in on him as we paid nothing and are wasting must be 50k a week minimun for a player who is no better than Faurlin or even Derry on some performances.

Along with the view of many fellow Rs on here, it is clear that our club was nowhere near a first choice and I think he is here by default having played brinkmanship with the Toon and lost. I think he reckoned that even if the Toon called his bluff another 'major' club would be there. NW said at the time we secured him that he was a 'top six club' person ( not verbatim). As to his ability , he is an enigma. Is his current form a true reflection of his ability or is it a function of his disaffection with his lot?

No, play him on the right side of the midfield together with SWP.

Especially when the labourer is acting like a sparky, and having to have the decorators clean up after him !

I don't know what to think with him any more. He's pony at the moment, but like Adel, we know he can do it. He's proven it at this level for years, but his attitude is shocking.

Barton is not a centre midfield player, imo, he lacks pace to get up and down the pitch. He also does not have the technical ability to run the midfield. When Adel came on Barton switched to wide right and seemed more comfortable there. We obviously will not let him go, but his place in the team should not be guranteed either. We need to strengthen the midfield across the board, that's where you win games, we just do not have the ability to keep the ball and create enough chances. Taarabt is the best player we have, as it showed when he came on at half-time yesterday, he should at least start the next three games. That way we can judge his commitment and desire before the Janurary window opens. Lets face it, we are not winning without him.

I'm watching match choice and Joey played ok. He comes in for a lot of stick, but he knocks the ball around quite nicely.

I think some people expect far too much from him at times.

i tend to agree with you Richard, he also tried a few "creative" passes yesterday that couldve got us a goal. some people in the upper loft were shouting '****ing barton' when faurlin lost the ball. I dont think hes been blinding lately but then again not many have to be honest, hes not been nowhere near as bad as some are suggesting though.
