  • This cant be right surely...

BBC website reckon the CPS consider a fine of £2500 to be the maximum penalty for John Terry. Can't post a link as I'm on my phone.

Yes it is right, the maximum he can get from this charge is £2,500 and no custodial sentance.

Exactly what I thought also mate; what a joke eh, the bloke earns that in a few hours!

As somebody stated on another thread, the real damage could be the impact on his career though, ie if the FA refuse to let him play for England again (although that'd mean growing a backbone so I doubt that will happen!).
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

It's up to the FA to hand out the real punishment. Anyone know why Suarez didn't have to face the CPS and Terry did?

The CPS refuse to deal with rodent look-a-likes apparently.

As a member of public made a complaint to the Police whereas in the Suarez case the only person who made a complaint was Evra, which was only to the FA.

Because no one reported suarez to the police, so they didn't have to get involved. A member of the public reported terry.

But if that member of the public hadn't reported it to the police, this wouldn't have come out as Anton didn't hear anything on the pitch, so wouldn't have made a complaint. So it was the CPS or nothing. If the FA decide to act on the back of the police case is another matter.

The FA have to act once the CPS are finished, they can't punish suarez and not punish terry.

Surely the secondary aspect will be fact that CFC will have to take internal action against one of their employees. You or I would be subject to our employer's disciplinary procedures and face a charge of gross/serios misconduct and face the sack - I can't see how it can be any difference for terry? I understand that cfc would have to await the conclusion of the external CPC and court action but after that they'd have to invoke their internal mechanisms.
