come on urrrrrrrrrrrrssssssss
Connolly has the chance to stake a claim for a run at CB if he has a another good game. I like the fact he plays the ball out and very rarely hoofs it like Gabs. He has confidence issues so we need to encourage him and not heckle if he makes an error, we need to support him.
I want to see SWP wide right and Mackie wide left (where he last scored for scotland from), and I personally don't want to see Tarbs start, but would like to see him get the whole second half. At the start of a match the pace is quick and it doesn't suit his style, he makes mistakes and his head drops. On the bench he will get wound up for a better impact among tiring defenders.
Really want to see HH up front with DJ in a 4-4-2 too.

Gotta say been impressed with Traore going forwards but not so much in defence. Comes across as an attacking wingback or winger rather than natural out and out left back. Above side would leave Mackie (who I would start against Swansea up front), Adel, Bothroyd and Smith as good attacking options from the bench.
I think it's time for Mackie to take a break and put Taraabt back in the side on the left allowing us to put SWP on the right to do some real damage.
Mackie has loads of endeavour but little end product. Taraabt on the other hand, if he's knuckled down and plays for the team, as he did when he came on against UTD is a better option. In that game was only on for about 20mins and created an absolutely unmissable chance for DJ, who managed to miss......
Up front would start with HH and Bothroyd again and leave DJ as an impact sub against tired and battered defenders after HH has bullied them for 60mins.
this formation at home is fine, we wont get as over run as we do away.
lets give taarabt the chance to shine, it was clear on sunday he has abit of fire in his belly and he wants to impress so if he does we should be more threatening.
as long as barton and faurlin keep the ball and do the simple things.. this formation would work. also you need to keep mackie and swp on these wings. dont switch em.
Soldier: "im on reconnaissance sir.. im looking for our camouflage expert.. have you seen him?"
Lovejoy: "No?!"

Don't think DJ will start and it's time for Mackie to drop to the bench. I'd keep faith with Bothroyd although he's infuriating, I don't think he warrants the stick he gets but his body language/languid style doesn't help.
Would have to strongly disagree with this. You want to play Heidar in the hole? Love the guy but should never be played anywhere but up top. Not ideal having no natural CBs either.

Think Bothroyd is out injured, Mackie was our best offensive player on Sunday - SWP lacks in confidence and might need a rest

But we'd have to play it to the front two to feet and not just lump it
Sunderland have Brown and Bramble at the back and the front two have the speed and skill to cause them problems if it's on the deck.
