John Terry racist row: England captain charged over alleged comments


John Terry WILL face criminal charges over his alleged racist comments towards Anton Ferdinand. The Crown Prosecution Service announced this afternoon that they have authorised his prosecution.

I'm afraid that's true Matty. The law he is said to have broken only carries a maximum punishment is £2,500, with no chance of a custodial sentence.

So basically the only proper punishment he can get is from the FA. Oh dear.

He was never going to jail for this...

It's more to do with the conviction, if indeed it comes. The fine is an irrelevance. He'll lose his England captaincy, Chelsea will have to take action, he'll lose the captaincy there too, his sponsors will run a mile, and then the FA will give him a huge ban, at least as big as Suarez, possibly more.
